MCcain was no friend of Veterans . all those years in the Senate, and what good did he do for them ? At least Trump is standing up for the families of dead Americans killed by illegals. The Democrats want to let more in, give them more benefits.

Deferments are legal. At least Trump didn't lie about being in Viet Nam like Blumenthal. And the media covers for him. They cover for all Democrats .
“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

(CNN) -- President Obama said that police in Cambridge, Massachusetts, "acted stupidly" in arresting a prominent black Harvard professor last week after a confrontation at the man's home.

Gates was arrested last week at his home in Massachusetts on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. talks Wednesday about his ordeal with Cambridge police.

"I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played," Obama said Wednesday night while taking questions after a White House news conference.

Cambridge authorities dropped disorderly conduct charges against Henry Louis Gates Jr. on Tuesday.

Obama defended Gates on Wednesday night, while admitting that he may be "a little biased," because Gates is a friend.

"But I think it's fair to say, No. 1, any of us would be pretty angry; No. 2, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, No. 3 ... that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately."

The incident, Obama said, shows "how race remains a factor in this society."

The true concept of free speech is that if you speak up against the government they can't go after you. For everything there's laws and societal norms. Everyone is free to say what they want, dumb, racist, sexual, whatever. It doesn't mean there aren't consequences, from lawsuits to a punch in the face to social ostracization to losing your job for racist Youtube comments. Denigrating a vet for their service, even if you disagree with them personally, is as low as it goes. Not including Trump in McCain's funeral was true justice

Here is a concept you don’t seem to understand. Being a vet, which is an honorable thing to do for your country, doesn’t automatically make someone a saint. There are plenty of vets, who did some noble things, but were still a**holes overall. McCain would fall under that category. A self aggrandizing, opportunist, egotistical showman who never did a decent thing in his role as a senator. I have no problem with anyone criticizing McCain.

Wouldn’t “a punch in the face” for saying something someone disagrees with qualify as breaking both laws and societal norms?

Then criticize his role as a senator, not as someone who served and was a POW for 5 years. See the difference? Neither you or Trump get that idea. Trump was making fun of Beto's hands today. Oh the irony of those comments....

Throwing a punch just over a disagreement? Yes. Throwing a punch for a racist comment or some dude makes a sexual advance towards your 14 year old daughter? Not so much. Misdemeanor charge and if it even went to court, the just jury will sympathize. So will society.

Trump attended military school. My father did as well. My father said that military school taught you to never become a POW. It was considered shameful. That's what Trump had trouble understanding based on his own experiences.

Agree, respect McCain's service in both military and senate, not that you agreed with his positions on items, in particular after he become anti-republican until after he lost the election. But McCain was always pro-US. Both McCain and Trump have a love for the country.

Piss poor excuse and a terrible idea. Alive is better than dead. That's like Japanese-level stuff. McCain could have gone after it was revealed who his father was. He chose to stay with the other Americans. I also didn't agree with his policies but his dedication to country was beyond reproach.

Trump has no love of country - he has a love of himself and nothing and no one else. He'll throw junior a lifeline once indicted only because it's embarrassing, not because he loves him.

Hilary said she wanted to be a marine. Obama said he thought about it. Probably when he was snorting coke and banging white girls
