Trump's solution was to just say NO to everyone. That isn't a solution. Our economy needs low cost labor for jobs Americans don't want to do. However, a good portion of that can be solved by expanding temporary unskilled worker visas. Instead, Trump shrank those to about 5K a year. He only wanted white engineers from Nordic countries to come here. When you block the supply of labor but there's still strong demand, guess what happens? People break the law to get here. And if you're desperate enough no wall is going to stop them either.
