I could care less who is the President on this matter. My issues with Trump have nothing to do with hate. Such a waste of emotion. Hate doesn't even enter into the equation here. That's how you perceive it because you can't accept that some of us simply believe that this man is far from the best we have to offer in this nation. Some of us can't accept a President who is a compulsive liar and endangers our nation through his disrespect for our allies, diplomacy, and the future of our children with his disregard for the needed efforts to deal with climate change and a crumbling infrastructure.

You'll have to show me reports that the Obama administration was not supplying toothbrushes, soap and the like to these kids. But if they didn't shame on them as well.

Your kids aren't fleeing gang violence or other persecutions. If you applied for asylum in other countries your kids wouldn't be taken away from you. You and your children would be given due process for your application. If detained you wouldn't be treated worse than that country treats its own adult prisoners. See the difference?

Frankly, there's nothing here in your contribution that reflects any vast pool of knowledge on your part. I'm quite sure I'm as knowledgeable on this topic as you and as knowledgeable on the previous administration.

In fact, I'm fairly certain that on matters of the Constitution, American History and the Presidency, I'm quite a bit more knowledgeable than you. I just don't feel the need to prove that to you. But if you knew what I do for a living, outside soccer, you'd not be so bold on attempting to hold up your knowledge against mine....on these topics.

But none of that has anything to do giving these kids what they need now. Why is your defense only about what happened in the past? Wrong is wrong. Where is your concern to aid these kids now? You focus on blame. I'd prefer we focus on getting these kids some soap and a mattress.

No one is against making the hard decisions. Why is not giving basic sanitary supplies and keeping kids clean qualified as a hard decision? Is being decent so hard?

The lack of " fundamental sanitary needs" is not life threatening. To be fair, one should compare the conditions that exist in the places they came from. If we believe what we hear, it is so bad they had to leave. I doubt anyone had any concerns about " fundamental sanitary needs" at the time that decision was made. Sleeping on a concrete floor is not life threatening. WE are being told they are escaping life threatening conditions. Compared to that, what's a little dirt, inconvenience and a few possible cavities ? Tooth decay is the most common disease in the world. Just by having the children isolated from Mosquitoes helps the, as Mosquitoes are responsible for more humans deaths than any other animal.

But so be it. According to the Democrats, we now must be responsible for the care and well being for any child that is left at our doorstep for whatever reason. However our system is not designed to handle the amounts that are coming in. Additionally , we have to deal wit the adults bringing them here. Many are not parents, some children are actually " rented " , and with little to no documentation it makes the task even more difficult.

So now that we know all this, how many should we let in. 10,000 ? 100,000 ? A million ? Everyone ? What if the entire child population of Central America showed up ? Don't say it isn't possible. Where do we go from here ?

Border crossings were at an all time low and held steady under Obama. He also deported a record number, far more than Trump has. Trump has only exacerbated it by 1) making it seem like the doors are closing so you better hurry hurry hurry! 2) pulling aid from countries that need it most, where most of the newer people are coming from 3)trying to change how asylum seekers are processed and causing enormous log jams
