As has been said many times, certainly not all Trump supporters are racist, but nearly all racists are Trump supporters. The hat has come to symbolize a party of intolerance. Kids in KY probably never thought twice about how they'd be received in D.C. Back before it was more acceptable I had a pierced ear while attending a school in the deep south. If I was going to be away from campus and the nearby area the earing came out. Sometimes conflict avoidance is a good thing.

He's up for 2020 re-election is too afraid of Trump and to lose the support of Trump's base. He couldn't afford that in his state. He also knows he has backed his party into a corner by standing with Trump and isn't smart enough to devise a way out. So, he hides in his turtle shell, afraid to come out.

Come on Snowflake. We're you getting your data from? CNN? WP? Let me insert some reality into your life. Most Americans can care less about the government shutdown and most government workers are happy about the shutdown. They're getting a relatively long extended paid vacation. Yes, paid, because they will be retroactively paid at the end by law. And there is not one bank that wouldn't give these workers a loan because their pay is guaranteed by the government. In fact there are many credit unions that are advertising short term low interest rate loans to these workers. The government is running just fine. In fact looks like there's plenty of room to cut costs.


Government has a minimal impact on GDP. This shutdown might have a 0.1% Impact on GDP if anything. Your "Economists" are full of it. The Stock market is saying otherwise.

And as far as poll numbers, Trump is almost exactly were he has been a 42% to 45% approval rating. The shutdown costing him 1 to 3% which he will gain back in a heart beat.

And how does that help them buy groceries and gas now?

Why doesn't the President simply sign the spending bills already put before him? How does he continue to justify his political objective by punishing federal workers? How can anyone not see the simple wrongness in this tactic and how do you defend the total lack of empathy he has here towards those he and he alone has hurt through this decision he has made and promised to "own" once made?

Why doesn't he call the Democrats bluff, open the government and then sit down at the negotiating table and be the master he claims to be? How could he lose the court of public opinion if he continues to negotiate then? Won't he put all the pressure on the Democrats to come to the table and resolve all this?
