I don't know that I'd characterize it as "an invasion".
The Border Patrol is already a pseudo-military presence.
Of course you need some barriers (we used to call it fencing) and surveillance around the high-traffic areas to increase the "friction" required to sneak into the country.

Despite what Sheriff Joe says, you can't just go shooting people who are trying to make it to a better life.
