There's some hardware store that says it won't serve gays in TN (?) that has been open for three years since putting signs in the window. Not every business could survive the hit, but some can.

All you have to do to see the problem at the root of this nation is to read this forum discussion. So few interested in a healthy discussion of the issues that could lead us to real solutions that we could take back to our legislators. Instead, all that matters is to toss the best insult and to denigrate the other view.

We are sinking in a pool of **** that we have made for ourselves and no one really seems interested in crawling out of it and joining in on making it go away. Instead we can just defecate on Democrats and liberals or piss gallons on Republicans and conservatives, because.....well, because we can.

And somehow people think that this is going to make life better for us all.

It starts at the top. When will the president stop calling immigrants rapists and drug dealers and denounce white supremacists instead of calling them "fine people"? If he started acting civilly and told his supporters - who call the police for sitting in a Starbucks or having a barbecue in a public park - to behave civilly then maybe those discussions can take place. Other poster is right - they're are ignorant racist fuks in every state. That's why anti-discrimination laws need to be national, not state by state.

Tell me how this would be a simple thing to implement. First of all, someone would have to craft a bill and get it through Committee. Senate or House, doesn't matter. Then it would require a vote. 218 votes in the House and 60 in the Senate.

How easy do you think that would be in today's Washington D.C.?

Then of course, you could go the Constitutional Amendment route, changing a current Amendment or adding another. I think that takes 38 states to approve first.

And there will always be situations where a business has the right to deny service. Those will have to be articulated in any law as well.

Then of course, any federal law would have to be trickled down to the state and municipal levels. Changes to state laws, municipal ordinances. All sorts of hurdles.

Tell me this would be easy.....lol.

I'm a Dem and I agree she was treated poorly. If you're open to the public you are open to ALL - unless of course you're causing issues etc. Denying her service because you don't like her lack of ethics is just as bad as denying gays a wedding cake. If you can't handle that you shouldn't be in business. Sometimes in life you have to interact with people you don't agree with; being civil is a necessity for a civil society.

As someone who extensively researches some of these issues I must say that your opinion appears to be based on a limited degree of knowledge regarding the actual quotes by the President .
You need to go deeper than what the MSM blasts at you. The Democrats should be just sending them $$$ for the propaganda .
