Kind of like the free speech argument - you can say what you want, but within certain boundaries where doing so could cause harm (eg can't yell fire in a crowded theater). The founding fathers knew they wouldn't get everything right and gave us a system to make modifications. They certainly never foretold assault rifles being used to kill innocent people

they had just finished overthrowing their own tyrannical govt using civilians, and where civilians were brutalized and killed by troops of the crown
they probably never envisioned drug crime but innocents getting killed was very familiar to them- before the revolution they fought the French and indian war which was brutal to women and children

Nobody is saying ban all guns.

A 30-06 round will do a fair bit of damage. It's tough to spray the room with a bolt-action rifle. You'll still kill people, but not as conveniently or as many.

Same thing with a revolver. a .38 revolver will do fair damage, but even with a speed loader (which should be banned, too), would do less total carnage than a Glock 17 pistol with a 17-round magazine.

We need common ground. Republicans should dump the really stupid arguments and help our nation get there. It's the patriotic thing to do.

In an independent study commissioned by the National Gun Victims Action Council, researchers placed 77 participants with varying levels of training through three realistic self-defense scenarios. In the first, seven of them shot an innocent bystander. Almost all of the participants in the first and second scenarios who engaged the “bad guy” got shot. In the final scenario, 23% of the participants fired at a suspect who actually posed no threat.

Of the 160 active shooting incidents identified by the FBI from 2000 to 2013, an armed civilian stopped only one. By comparison, off-duty police stopped two, armed guards four, and unarmed civilians foiled 21.

Honestly, though, the best thing that can happen is if minorities, blacks and Hispanics, started buying these AR 15s and semiautomatic pistols. When that happens, you'll see Republicans turn to gun control.

The endless joke

Trump’s VA Secretary David Shulkin has come under widespread calls to resign after it was revealed that he wasted taxpayer money during an extravagant trip to Europe and then had his staff try to cover it up. Shulkin keeps refusing to resign, but the scandal isn’t going away. it doesnt matter where the guns come from- the only thing that matters is laws, right?
your myth said nothing about origin it said if you had lots of laws you would have less gun deaths
Illinois has the strictest gun laws and 30 shootings every weekend- not too good
