Sandmann declared the victory in a tweet on his 18th birthday. It’s unclear how much the newspaper settled for.

“On 2/19/19, I filed $250M defamation lawsuit against Washington Post. Today, I turned 18 & WaPo settled my lawsuit,” he wrote.

“Thanks to @ToddMcMurtry & @LLinWood for their advocacy. Thanks to my family & millions of you who have stood your ground by supporting me. I still have more to do,” he continued.
    Thanks for posting.

IF he settled for a dollar and an apology, this statement would still be accurate, yes? Seems like we can count on the fact he got a “nuisance” settlement.

...tweet by Mark Zaid, who speculated about how much money Sandmann walked away with from the settlement.

“Those with zero legal experience (as far as I can tell) should not be conjecturing on lawsuits they know nothing about. What kind of journalism is that?” Zaid wrote.

“I’ve litigated defamation cases. Sandman [sic] was undoubtedly paid nuisance value settlement & nothing more,” he added. [/quote]

pork is not releasing your tax returns because you cheated on them

The $15 minimum wage question should be debated separately. I'm sick of politicians slapping everything but the kitchen sink into every bill. Biden wants to phase it in over 2-3 years which I totally agree with. Going straight into it will hurt struggling businesses

Pork is sticking unrelated garbage into a bill to either get something that has no chance individually in passing or getting someone to vote in favor in return for some kind of quid pro quo inclusion

15 min wage has nothing to do with battling covid, especially if you do it over a longer period of time.

15 min wage is stupid. The country is diverse. 15 in Mississippi is not the same as 15 in Silicon Valley

if you pay the dishwasher 15 what do you then have to pay the line cook, prep cook

what happens is that the additional costs will be forwarded to the customer. a dinner for a family of 5 that was perhaps around $125 will now be about $200.

Less people will go out to restaurants and/or the frequency will be less.

Businesses like maybe a supermarket will probably cut some staff and those who remain will have to perform 2x the workload.

My local supermarket already has a fkg robot that travels and scans the aisles that was at one time done by a person.

                    Mcdonalds has kiosks!!!!!

So the cost of this meal rises by the cost of 5 hours of labor?

We always knew you were nuts.

I’ll happily pay $0.30 more for a slice and make up for you mr stingy.

If your business is struggling and can’t cut it unless you have access to near slave labor at $7.25 /hr, said business wasn’t viable in first place and perhaps the invisible hand of the market should put those pizzerias in the hands of those who can run them more successfully.

There are always “winners” and “losers” in capitalism and I encourage you cons to bravely embrace the invisible hand. Capitalism never gets it wrong as long as we adhere to its principals, right cons?

idiot there are whole industries built on min wage labor
the fast food industry for example-
stock and cashiers at the supermarket
                          seasonal work( lawn,pool,etc...)
                          farm labor

work that HS kids used to do after school and during the summer/ entry level

so unless farmers go back to having 10 kids - they will go out of business, guess who doesnt eat then "MR. capitalism has winners and losers"
the farmer will make due, you get to eat your computer

Oh it wont be 30 cents a slice

the whole supply chain will be affected- it will be hit 20 times before the products show up to the pizza shop- then he gets to pile on

                            enjoy

you are correct. businesses like Mcdonalds, supermarkets, pools, lawns have always been a great 1st job for a 15year old. (not something for a person to aspire to for a career choice) but a starter stepping stone job.

Liberals are pushing this issue like it will solve all your problems (but will actually keep you fully dependent on your government).

libs continually amaze me with their inability to use critical thinking...5 hours of labor?...it may not be as much as the other poster said but it is definitely closer to hi estimate than your .30 a slice lol(your wife must love that your idea of a nice meal is takeout pizza bahahaha)...the effect on the restaurant will be 1 hour of labor for 5 people which will definitely be passed along to customers and cause middle class families to go out for dinner less often
