I am sure they would take additional risks if it spared their grandchildren growing up in a socialist country. Or from their parents being bankrupt because nuts like you want to shut the world down.

Oh, and by the way, your shutdown has cause more suicides, alcoholism, and poverty than any benefit of a shutdown. That is on your head. I am sure grandma and grandpa want to see the grandkids at thanksgiving. Hey, if you want to be a turtle, go ahead, that is your choice. But do not tread on me....

Staying home saves lives and everyone should just stay home.
Except for the DoorDash lady who delivers my dinner that was cooked by people who work at the restaurant.
And the grocery delivery driver who brings me the groceries that were stocked by the grocery worker.
And the Amazon worker who packed the stuff I bought. And the UPS driver who delivered it.
And the brewer who made the beer I'm drinking. And the trucker who brought the beer to the store.
And the football players who are playing in the game I'm watching.
And the linemen who fixed my power lines so my power came back on.
And the plumber who fixed the sink that was backed up.
And the cast & crew on this new Netflix show I'm watching.
And the people who work at the water treatment plant making sure my water is clean.
And the people in the factory who made these shoes I just bought.
And the longshoremen who picked the container that had my shoes off of the ship and put it on a train that ended up on a truck that made it to a warehouse and then somehow magically appeared on my doorstep.
And the daycare workers who are watching my kids so I can finally get some work done.
When I said "staying home saves lives" it turns out I actually meant "me staying home saves my life."

Yes essential workers has a broad definition. But if they are doing those jobs so a majority of people can stay home and be happy than society will start to limit the COVID exposures.

And many jobs can be done, safely, with protective equipment, distancing etc. Many can stay open and don't need to be shut down and probably won't be this time, just have limits. Some where spread is more likely need much stronger limits (indoor dining a prime example)

interesting that shutdowns include restaurants and bars but not package stores or casinos

i guess state revenue is also a factor on who is allowed to get Covid and who isnt

That's definitely the driver for the casinos (which are skanky even before Covid and you couldn't pay me to go into one now). But your risk of going in to buy a 6pack is as negligible as buying groceries, assuming you and the cashiers are masked. No reason they can't stay open.

I see that casinos are being closed so i dont know where that information you have came from. Any place that you need to linger for more than 15 minutes near someone should be avoided. Shopping, liquor stores, post offices and shipping stores should all be allowed to remain open. Take out from restaurants as well. The only thing really out is the bar scene and the health clubs. Those that will survive should be adjusting to the new future anyways.

TS is moderated now? Good thing I could retrieve this

op here and I was responding to the other guy. Honestly I don't know what all is on and off the list but agree just about any store should be able to remain open. Even hairdressers and barbers have been fine with good safety measures. I suppose if dealers and patrons have masks in theory it's ok, but the air circulation in casinos is bad. Then what about all the shared surfaces? Blech. I dont' like gambling that much. Bars are a big no - people standing close together + talking for long periods + masks off + alcohol is a bad combo. Gyms really depend on how close the equipment is, patrons would have to wear masks and surfaces cleaned constantly (still a hard pass for me). Take has always been fine; we order all the time and have since the get go. Tables are so spread out in restaurants I dont know how they can make money with such low capacity.

Says the limousine liberal who has a 6 figure white collar job who can work from home and has not lost a penny from this. Elites. CT is full of them.

In other words: white collar workers continue to sit at home, watch Netflix and order DoorDash, blue collar workers, continue to take on the brunt of infections

When do the protections under the Constitution kick in? In the alternative, when did we agree to rescind the constitution and become mere subjects to authority?
