Oakwood has no chance ever of getting into the ECNL unless they buy the badge like FSA did. Soccerplus got the badge only due to Tony D's connections. They were horrible, then got deep into debt with a poorly run business. They sold the badge and FSA has not done much better. Oakwood would have been the better option along time ago but that ship has sailed. Oakwood had a chance to buy the badge from Soccerplus and they didn't. Bad move and they will struggle forever now

That isn't necessary. Whether or not to abandon GAL is another matter but that could be decided for them if GAL collapses. Then the question is can they run a healthy profitable girls program in something like EDP? Absolutely they can. Sure a few better players will leave by high school, but there are other programs doing ok with HS teams, none really in that area (AC CT, Rush, YU).

I see the only news coming out if oakwood lately is a few boys leaving to play at MLS clubs .... The new academy is working perfectly as the MLS clubs hoped. Play nonmls clubs enough to scout them and steal their one or two talented players and give nothing back in return. The nonmls clubs are fools to agree to be partial members .... It's like when premier clubs get involved with local travel clubs .... Ways the same result.

Congrats to Ellie Jean playing in champions league! Cool stuff for a kid from CT. Not an Oakwood parent but congrats to the club as well. Great to see a girl from CT train in state and be living her dream.

Pay to play clubs cannot compete with MLS clubs for talent. They're not supposed to. MLS is ntended to be the top of the pyramid. CT players actually have more options with 2 NY clubs and the Revs, which suck but several CT players have gone there.

That wasn't the poster's point - which was Oakwood's product hasn't improved in the 12+ years they've been in BDA/MLS. One would hope your kid would improve over NPL since NPL is now crap. That doesn't make OW a top club for development

But NPL guy's point is OW is still a better spot for a good boys player than almost all of the other non-ECNL, MLS Next clubs in the state.
