On a more serious note, anyone at the Oakwood/SSS games this weekend? Following the U15 game (we are in competition with both) and it looks like it was quite a game.

I have absolutely no issue with clubs hiring parent coaches AS LONG AS they do as you describe. Even when it happens, they shouldn't coach their own kids. Why? Soccer parents are notoriously suspicious and a parent coach will always be under the microscope, every move questioned. It isn't worth it. Assign a qualified parent coach in charge of another team.

At this point I think it is becoming more about which club you are at in the pre-DA/ECNL ages. Kids now are coming into those leagues having had a couple of years at their clubs, forming friendships and bonds and will ultimately prefer to stay where they are. A couple may choose ECNL to play HS but by now it isn't very much because these kids aren't chained to their towns anymore.
