So cute! You must be new. Let me set you straight. Clubs can either

    a) put players in their B teams and roster them as part time DA players. B teams don't have HS restrictions. PT players can be added fulltime to a DA roster at anytime until early April. This route doesn't happen here with our fall HS season or at smaller clubs like OW, but happens in other states. It is a gaping hole in the rules but allowed.

    b) add new players from anywhere at anytime up until early April. This route works well in areas where soccer is a fall or even winter sport. Once HS is done put them on the roster like you just magically just "found" them. It doesn't fit the spirit of the rules but technically is allowed.

    c) get a waiver because you play for your private or prep school. This is fully allowed in DA rules but does require USSF approval.

Watch, by the December showcases there will be more players on those rosters. OW does it. BS does it. So do many other clubs. Needless to say this arrangement is granted players they really want.

Yes and it goes over really well with the players who give up HS and follow the rules. Even better is the HS players take away PT from the rule followers either because they are better players (again, this isn't given to just anyone) but also because so called new players still have to get in their required 25% starts. They have time to make up and guess who loses?

First year at OW eh? They must have taken your kid to get through the HS season ..... Wait until the middle of November and Spring ..... Your kid will be losing a lot if PT as OW inflates their rosters with the kids who don't need their super de super fall training to start.

OW isn't the only one in the region playing around with rosters. Plenty of other clubs have teams that are light or with just gapping holes. They're either playing a lot of players up temporarily (NEFC and Fury especially have big U14 rosters and tiny U15) or praying they can get through the fall with their skeleton crews and add HS players in November. I noticed for example on NEFC's their U19 team had seven players with no games played yet. Sure, maybe a few are injured. But clearly they have a large number not playing in the fall, either officially waivered or "injured," BOTN poster said Fury has a few players on their rosters openly playing HS ball and making a newspaper all star list.

The NE GDA is a joke. Theses would all be bottom of the barrel teams in the NE ECNL.

Agree that NE GDA is weaker, but NEFC teams would definitely not be bottom of the barrel in ECNL. It's actually a shame that they are not in the league. The others.... meh.

Once again, the clueless throw up wins and losses as the key barometer to defining club "success".

I think it's that people just refuse to really try and understand what club soccer is about.

you can't develop and win at the same time

                        Another foolish comment.

Of course you can. Equally, you can develop and lose games at the same time as well.

The point is which is more important, winning games at the team level or working towards consistent player growth through creation of a proper individual development culture?

It seems to me, that as a parent, my focus would entirely be on my club's ability to provide that culture for my kid. If the club does that effectively, then it's on my kid to apply himself or herself so that they actually grow as a player.

Winning games or not, that is the club for my kid. The one that does its best to help my kid find and stay on a consistent path to improvement.

Of course it's flawed logic. But clubs should be moderately competitive, winning close to half the time and staying in the mix in the losses. OW does ok in the NE GDA because it's a weak league. They did very poorly st national events.
