Most of the nation's top players always came from outside this area, GDA or ECNL before. GDA is most successful out west so it makes sense the most NT call ups would be from there - that on top of politics. We have a unicorn now and then and that's it. Similar with top college recruits. Another GDA red flag for local NT wannabes. Pick what will make you happiest but be realistic about it.

There’s one, look again. However as opposed to calling it the U16 USGNT, perhaps they should call it US West of the Mississippi GNT? Only 4 of the players from east of the Mississippi.

Half the team from CA, and 4 players from San Jose Earthquakes academy.

Quakes U15s won the GDA title this past season. Watched the final on the DA website - and must say Quakes have a very impressive team.

Not always the case. 2004 top talent is in NE even in US soccer eyes.

i'd like to know too since U16s are 2004s. That list has one NY kid on it, that's it. The list is very similar to other ages and over the years - primarily west coast or southwest kids, a few from FL, GA, and then occasionally one or two from NJ/NY/CT/PA/MA That's it. None of this is new. Contrary to what many parents think, the NE is not a hotbed of youth soccer.

SSS player AS plays up on YNT consistently probably considered best 2004 in the county. LK (no longer with OW) another top 10 nationally. There are a couple top players from NYCFC (goalies) and field player highly ranked. All from the NE is the point. This age group's talent weighed more toward east coast (particularly NE).

Playing 1/3 of the competive season indoors pretty much disqualifies anyone from the Northeast from any national team.

Are you contending it's not the best team they can put together? Who should be on that roster that is not? Are you in a position to evaluate all the possible candidates and assess their comparative abilities as players and athletes and determine who should make this team and who should not?
