Must be boys - more of a lateral move for a lot of boys. For girls it's multiple drops down unless you were a bench warmer.

When 11 kids leave from the 02 boys team throughout the season that is insane. When numerous kids turn down offers to rejoin the club that is insane. Notice the pattern Pot, Kettle, Black. SMH!

If towards the end of the year, they are likely:
1.) already committed and want to play HS next year,
2.) not going to make the academy team next year (2002s become the year-down age group for U18/19 next year), so what is the sense ... and they want to play HS,
3.) hate their coach (who will likely be next year's coach as well), or
4.) not playing much this year and are sick of the grind and BS of DA soccer and missing out on the rest of what their lives can offer (HS Soccer and being contributors on the field, other sports, friends in town .....).

Not sure what many of those cut kids expected their situation would be like once the good players returned from playing HS soccer in late November.

Those are credible reasons or maybe the culture and coaching at Oakwood is lacking.

All good points but most 02s are rising seniors and should have been on a team already. The real funnel happens from U15single year team to U17 two year team. Thats when a lot of players give up on DA. In other words that won't account for 11 players leaving

Great points, but I believe there has to be more to it. To have that many kids leave a program in a year, Oakwood must be doing something wrong. Don't buy the commitment excuse. Not liking the coach and staff could be a reason. Not going to make the team possible but post stated several players refused offer to return.

Return to what though? Bottom of the academy roster or the NPL team? Not much of a choice to me if asking to give up so much, including $$.

Most boys players don’t commit in their senior year. If they do college coaches want them in DA

When that two year age grouping happens a lot of clubs try to hold on to the players that don't make the cut by offering "pre academy" or some other team option in the club ($$$). DA is also trying to run leagues for those ages. Problem is that's a big risk. Are you really going to make the cut the next year? If you decide to take that chance just know that the clubs and league don't care about younger players who aren't skilled enough to play with the older ones.
