OW probably does a good job with some kids. But their cockiness and crappy club culture will eventually be their demise. Not a whole lotta like never mind love for them except the blind parent followers.

They're one of the oldest clubs in the state. They're not as strong as they used to be partly because the landscape has changed and they don't always change fast enough. They're still doing perfectly fine. One thing I give them credit for is doing what they can to keep fees lower, which is what DA clubs are supposed to do. Without substantial changes they'll never be a destination club like they once were. But this landscape is filled with clubs treading water and surviving in the sea of mediocrity.

They are more expensive than every other club around here up until U15 and that is without travel costs and the extra coaches fees that dont show up in the bill. When you add in their travel fees they are certainly the most expensive club in the state. They spare no expense and have a lot of extended trips with flights.

Those extra trips are absurd. it's bad enough DA participation is so costly. Parents could say no, but they don't. So either they feel hog tied and can't say no, or they buy into the kool aid consumption.

How many raffle tickets are each child REQUIRED to sell/buy? Do the math on that one...

The raffle is smart. Free money, prob 60k. Make your kid sell them, don’t buy em. Teach your kid some responsibility. I made my kid stand outside the supermarket and sell them. You should try it.

Why more clubs don’t do raffle is mind boggling.

As for the extra trips, how can that be looked at as a negative. International soccer trips? Yeah, real bummer! You people are nuts. Go watch NFL football.

Not sure why you’re telling me “you should try it”. I’m not with OW, but I’m the one who posted about the raffle tickets. I was simply pointing out that the concept definitely generated cash for the club.

I have an issue and family policy against begging people for money for my kid's expensive habits. We don't sell tickets to our friends or families for our polo matches or yacht races either.

Which helps them lower fees. If more clubs did fund raising and found sponsors it would be more affordable. But the more affluent soccer families would rather just write a check. They can't be bothered helping others or teaching their kids life lessons.
