I never realized how far apart GAL's NE teams are till you look at the club map. Seems it will be difficult to pull off games this fall with the virus given the distance. ECNL NE much tighter.

You realize it's virtually the same footprint, right? The map is misleading as it shows teams in Maine, which isn't correct. Yes, Seacoast is an outlier so add an hour beyond the Mass teams, and ECNL sends you into middle NY; otherwise the footprints lay on top of each other pretty close.

Ah yes, someone didn't know the geography in the NE when they put that together. SSS is shown in Maine as well.

What is a stark difference is the club name recognition. In some regions you have to go deep into the list before a familiar club name comes to mind.

Same clubs in New England/Northeast been in place for years, decades.

I don't concern myself with the teams in Idaho nor do I claim to recognize any of them because it has zero affect on me.

Well lets focus on the NE then:
FC Stars v NEFC
Scorpions v SSS
World Class V NYSC
CFC v OW
East Meadow v LI SC
FSA V Seacoast
PDA V STA

In each case above hard to argue the ECNL club isn't better than the GAL club and this leaves out SUSA and Stars White which would both challenge the top GAL club in the NE.

Ok, how about this. GAL has no name, no history .... Well, maybe the little, half-sister of the GDA monumental failure without most of the teams that went there from ecnl, the other decent teams, and most of the decent players that had jumped ship for a couple of years until they realized that it was a **** show .... But that's it.

OP here. From a name recognition perspective only the same argument can be made. Each ECNL club in the NE has the better name recognition than its GAL counterpart.

NYSC came to FSA twice this past season (early spring) for GDA v ECNL scrimmages and NYSC got spanked both times across age groups.

Not sure anyone is arguing GAL has no talent. I think you're being a little defensive. I think you would even admit ECNL has the upper hand but putting that aside, the bigger question is what is the purpose of GAL? Why do they think they have the "best" platform? How does trying to create another national platform advance youth soccer?

The purpose of the GAAP is clearly spelled out in the online presence. Check their website if you like.

They think they have the best platform because they are attempting to be a far more player-centric and player led organization than any of the other national or regional leagues. They've ensured their leadership is principally female and they've got some pretty well know names in the sport in key roles and advising their organization. Would you suggest they market themselves in some subordinate fashion?

How as the current platforms proven themselves overall to be the best way to advance youth soccer? What is your definition of "advancing youth soccer" in the first place?

This is accurate and the real point; GAL has NO history. Nothing. Won’t know anything until they actually play and move kids into college. They can promote all they want and use all those sappy catchphrases, but the proof will be in how they run their operation and what benefit the kids get out of it. I personally am not optimistic, but would be happy with being wrong.

What does player led organization mean exactly? That they listen to their players? What happens when the majority OW players say they really want to play high school? Will OW listen?
