Originally posted by Unregistered View PostOne of the best ways to develop players is to bring the best players together. OW and more broadly, GDA wasn't able to do that, hence its quick demise. There needs to be consolidation of talent in a small state like CT to truly develop. OW needs to get past its arrogance, admit their vision was a failure and do what's right for the future of CT soccer. Trying to keep its teams together and move to inferior leagues would be the height of arrogance at the detriment of kids that love the game.
They are/were a Boy's Academy club that also had a girl's program. Opportunity came along to move from NPL to DA and have a higher end product. No brainer from a business perspective.
The outcome here however was highly predictable. The only losers here are the kids who served as lab rats and gave up high school sports. I largely blame that parents for that move though. None of that crowd are committing to any college programs that weren't attainable without forfeiting HS sports.
Let the games begin.
