Something is rotten in Wilton
“This incident does not define who we are as a school community,” O’Donnell and McDougal said in the letter. “Together we will work to support our entire learning community in the wake of this unfortunate event, reinforcing our belief that civility and decency are paramount while maintaining a culture that is conducive to the health and wellness of our students, faculty, parents and visitors.”
Similar incidents to Wednesday night’s post-game altercation have happened in Wilton in recent years.
In fall 2016, a Wilton parent is said to have berated then Wilton field hockey coach Deirdre Hynes-Ormond before and after a two-hour practice.
Two years ago, a Wilton parent got nose-to-nose with then Wilton girls’ soccer coach, Freya Coombe.
In another incident several years ago, the Wilton girls’ lacrosse coach was chased across the field by a Wilton High parent outraged about his daughter’s playing time.

Repeating from another thread - to support Joe and the family...
I know Joe personally and I think that he is one of the best guys I know. Watched 50 CFC games with him - never a peep and always a gentleman. Never yelled at a ref. Never bothered anyone - just a great, fun guy with a big heart. Watched a h.s. game with him earlier where we Wilton got whooped and he was terrific all game talking with us - as always. Self deprecating - relaxed.
His daughter Paisley has also always been a treat to be around. A physical player since she was 8 years old, she was always a great teammate and friend on CFC and has always been a fun young lady to interact with since then.
The mom and son have also always been terrific to deal with and have known them as teammates and rival opponents and they have always carried themselves the same way.
When things were tough for my family, the Eagans were always there - as great supporters and friends. While many "acted" like they cared, Joe and his family were amongst the most sincere - and I have numerous examplese
It's unfortunate that Paisley and Joe got "their Irish up", but I count them as great people and friends - better than a lot of the posers I have met throughout my life in the girls soccer experience - coaches included with exclamation points!!
