I know Joe personally and I think that he is one of the best guys I know. Watched 50 CFC games with him - never a peep and always a gentleman. Never yelled at a ref. Never bothered anyone - just a great, fun guy with a big heart. Watched a h.s. game with him earlier where we Wilton got whooped and he was terrific all game talking with us - as always. Self deprecating - relaxed.
His daughter Paisley has also always been a treat to be around. A physical player since she was 8 years old, she was always a great teammate and friend on CFC and has always been a fun young lady to interact with since then.
The mom and son have also always been terrific to deal with and have known them as teammates and rival opponents and they have always carried themselves the same way.
When things were tough for my family, the Eagans were always there - as great supporters and friends. While many "acted" like they cared, Joe and his family were amongst the most sincere - and I have numerous examplese
It's unfortunate that Paisley and Joe got "their Irish up", but I count them as great people and friends - better than a lot of the posers I have met throughout my life in the girls soccer experience - coaches included with exclamation points!!
to repeat from the other thread - you clearly don't know him all that well and nothing justifies his actions. Nothing. How you could even support him after the way he went after the last coach speaks volumes as to what you deem acceptable parent behavior. Parents might want to steer clear of you as well.

Did Joe make a behavioral mistake - yes. As a society, we cannot take out our anger by beating someone up. No debate and yes, he needs to deal with the ramifications of his behavior. But he got in a fist fight with another guy - this wasn't a Las Vegas scale issue...
Morally - I'd like to hear what the coach did to get Joe this fired up. Again, not a behavior I have ever seen from Joe with a lot of data points...
Lastly - I really hope you guys never make a mistake in your lives... We all do. Body of work matters. Those judging from "on high" make me laugh - you must be young or not self aware, because most if not all do things that are as bad or worse than a fist fight...

I pity the kid on some level.

A fistfight? He purposely sought out the coach 30 minutes later in the parking lot and attacked him. And you have the nerve to ask what the coach did to fire him up, you must be the same kind of guy who says a woman deserved to get raped because she was dressed provocatively. No wonder you're defending him. Scumbags stick together

I find self righteous people on message board to be humorous. You BETTER have not ever made a mistake in your life with that attitude. Usually the self righteous are the worst one's to be around - just sayin'...
We all make behavioral mistakes - Joe's was just very public and he will certainly pay plenty of his error in judgement.
