The kids at ODP tryouts are the ones that are just below the kids allowed to play up at their club. Most are interchangeable with those same kids but lack the relationships to other coaches/admins at the club to get boosted. They go to ODP for the visibility they aren’t getting. The training is secondary.

Easy clueless soccer dad, many good players on ODP who see it simply as additional trading with diff coaches against diff opponents, and bonding with new teammates. Kids enjoy it for what is.

Thank you for the literal one logical and calm comment on this astronomically insane thread.

You may be doing it for that I can assure you that others are not. I understand why OW kids would want to play with different kids/coaches though.

Everyone should want to play with different kids/coaches if they want to end up being well rounded high level players.

I could understand why CFC players would want to play with other players and for other coaches, so they actually play with TEAM players that aren't just out there because coach Leo promised them they could play with the ECNL team if they try reaallll hard.

I could understand why FSA players would want to play with other players and for others coaches, so they actually can be around anyone with an ounce of talent.

I could understand why Oakwood players would want to play with other players and for other coaches, so they could be around players that actually commit to a team and work to improve instead of slack off and be allowed to and still get rewarded for it because numbers are so piss poor on every team.

The fact that anyone has a superiority complex in this watered down over saturated state when it comes to youth soccer is asinine. They all have their massive downfalls. But every single one of them will have their highest players go on to play in college every single year, so stfu and tell little Mia to work on her juggling so we can make a new instagram reel about it.

lol, good one, lots of good talented boys at U12, who if they had a chance to grow and compete and develop together would make CT proud, would not have to go to NY or or Mass for development, sad kids have to drive 2 hours for development. Clubs should combine.

U-12 pool was the Worst I’ve seen. Rec players and travel players. Saw a bunch of kids who have never played soccer
                before. Maybe they’ll make regionals!!

If it’s so bad, why were you there? Your little Timmy one of those kickball rec players???

If not, you’re just there watching kids. Strong pedo vibes…

Yup, no doubt his Timmy was one of those rec players, the groups where seperated quickly to group the competive good players to scrimmage against each other. Timmy was not a pat of that group, lol.

Timmy was not one of the 50 invited to the second try out weeks later that was indoors. Definitely a pretty good group there. Agree that it really helped to cut out the 60 weak players in on the first tryout it looked sloppy. Shows you just how little it takes to botch a team.

No one was cut. Stop lying. They want that $$$$$$. Timmy will be invited to make the team. So will all the other travel players.

Ok enough of ODP. Back to bashing OW, another soccer dinosaur that lost its way.

No really over 100 players showed up and 50 were invited back - decisions supposedly come today. They were numbered on the first trial and I counted on the second. Of the 50 we recognized many players from premier teams across CT; a few were the top kids on their team Sorry to burst your bubble at least at the younger ages ODP is still a pretty competitive program. It all makes sense because at those ages many kids are still playing club and travel and I think they use the travel mailing list from CJSA. We’ll all enjoy you not being involved. If you are a coach or admin you don’t have your head in the right place. If a parent, you might need to watch more soccer because you do not know what good looks like.

And if you are a parent that coaches as a club, this is why this program exists. Programs like this weaken the political grip you have on player decisions at the club. We should all celebrate that aspect. The players know who’s good and who is getting propped up.
