Some of those teams listed on the national academy league are now MLS next. Will they have teams in both? ANd the current bolts and NEFC teams, will they leave ECNL ?

don't see any other MLSN affiliated clubs around here missing. NEFC going all in (no more ECNL). Bolts too? Is OW really and truly dead? Tryouts in Bethany and Farmington actually meaningful this year? ECNL in NE on the way out? My god, my kid just wants to play soccer.

Could someone explain in plain English what it is this national academy league in comparison to MLSN and ecnl? Is it in addition to? Or instead of? I am relatively new to youth soccer.

Sounds like yet another container in the youth soccer shell game. Guessing this is MLSnextnext for older kids.

What more do you need to know? Its got 'National' and 'Academy' right there in the league name ... it must be the best! Wish they had included 'Elite' and 'Select' in there too though to get all of the buzzwords and make them even more superior ...could have been the NASEL!

The fact that no one can figure this out just shows you how absurd youth soccer has gotten in this country. Every year there's leagues that come and go, clubs that come and go. Between this, too much costly travel and crazy fees, it's no wonder fewer kids are playing soccer.

It's the league for the B teams of MLSN. NEFC for example is moving their ECNL teams to this new league and leaving ECNL all together. Likely mad because they aren't getting in on girl's side. Not sure if OW has B teams at older ages or not.

For boys, kids with pro prospects are playing for professional team academies at no cost. For the rest, they are being catered to by a plethora of leagues hoping to grab your dollars and make claims of getting your kid a college scholarship (which actually has a low probability). Many parents have plenty of disposable money and are willing to pay the price....and many clubs are feeding off of this willingness.
