Nonsense. Clubs can cover a kid they really want.

Where did he end up? If at an MLS academy out of state, fine, but if he stayed in-state, that is pretty tell-tale.

lol, seriously? OW hasn't "lost" a kid to real MLS in a long, long time. OW has "lost" dozens of kids to instate ECNL for sure. Who wants to be on OW fake MLS these days? You'd have to be nuts. They;ve won like 2 games across all ages over the last 2 years.

Oakwood concentrated on the boys programs for years and considered the girls program as just a way to fund the boys. Now it's almost reversed. The boys are terrible. While the girls aren't the top in the state they are definitely seeing more success than the boys and Oakwood has shifted focus to the girls side. They don't care about development as much as it's in every damn speech they make. It's about $.

OW is now stuck in 2 mediocre leagues, GA and MLSN (Yes MLS is the top boys league but it's really about the pro clubs) with poor performances in both. Unless you're a top club in either it will be a constant battle to keep both top players and those that decide the travel and cost isn't worth it. On the girls side NEFC is still thriving because they are a top 3 GA club in the country. If you can't start for a top club you should be asking yourself if it's worth it.

Cold day playing pond hockey Saturday. Brrrr...But, we now know how important this pick-up games are so I'm happy to report our team went 4-1 over the afternoon. That one loss was BS though, we took off our best skater because he feet were cold and the other team scored a couple of late ones. Plus, we have a 'no-lifting' rule and one clearly caught some air.

Oakwood’s younger boys groups are filled with clumsy travel players from a 5 mile radius. They don’t get serious and have the purge, until the games count. Base decisions on the older groups. A lot of the kids that get brought in on scholarship are there on their teammates dime. Like I said the town kids get weeded out.

100% this. They have no idea what's coming for them.
