I just looked at the MLS Next standings. OW is going the same route as South Central. The girls program has surpassed the boys.

BS and OW have fallen off a cliff the last few years. Not that they dominated BDA in the NE but they were far better than they are now. If you're not aiming for mid to high D1 and/or you want to play HS then ECNL make make sense. Chose the best fit and coaching, not the patch. Take a look to at where BS an OW players wind up - not the academic part but the soccer part.
How many boys go to Div 1 in an average year from BS, OW, FSA, CFC combined? Anyone know?

BS and OW in a good year might send a handful each, (almost nine to top programs) CFC or FSA at most 1-2. Lots of kids in this area go for academic D3s because it's a better fit and there's lots of quality schools in the NE.

Iona and Northern Kentucky should not count. Pretty sure FSA sent a few last year and will again this year.

But they are D1. No one mentioned level of D1. Reality is CT sends very, very few kids to top D1 programs in any given year. Like the poster said plenty of families are more than happy with a quality academic school vs chasing a D1 dream that probably won't ever materialize.

The top D1 programs pull talent from international and MLS academies, not typical club soccer. Nothing wrong playing soccer at a small D3 school that has solid academics, that’s definitely more important than worrying about going D1 to a lousy academic school like CCSU.

other than really top universities, does it the school really matter?

All depends what the degree is in. Something like teaching, it doesn’t matter at all. Something like engineering matters, an engineering degree at CCSU (D1) vs WPI (D3) is a pretty substantial difference.

when it comes to a degree in education it certainly matters. Despite all the trash talking about CCSU, they have one of the best education programs around. If you have a degree in education from a New England school, move down south and see how quickly you get hired.

You're not very smart to teach in the south - terrible pay compared to up here and poor education systems. We have a shortage of teachers across the country, nurses too. You shouldn't have any trouble finding jobs where you want to live.

Like all else in life, "it depends"

                          - strength in certain majors not only for careers but also grad school
                          - strength in hiring
                          - good alumni networks can really help with networking
                          - starting salaries will be different
                          - what you do while on campus (if you're studying all the time to survive at a top school vs taking on active roles or working career building part time jobs)

what you're paying/how much debt you have to take on matters also. If you know you're going to grad school then get that undergrad degree as cheaply as you can + get top grades. Where you get your MBA or med school degree matters far more than the undergrad.

OK --- Getting back on track with the subject of this thread --- Can anyone affiliated with Oakwood explain to me how the hell the U-17,16 girls' coach CM keeps his job?? He has absolutely no clue how to coach the game. A majority of the play is kickball (which the coach seemingly endorses). Do the DOC's watch this guy train his teams?? Do parents complain or have they simply given up? Or do RD and DF simply not give sh*t??
