Well without the 2 players they brought up that would leave them 2 subs for 3 games in 4 days. So yes I’d say they needed them. As a parent on that 07 team I’m actually happy they did bring them. I was there. Physically they needed the extra players to rotate people through. 3 games in 4 days under that pressure is massive. People had their reasons not so send their kids. Some school related. Some Covid related. And 3 major knee injuries as well from last year that aren’t recovered. Quickly the roster of 18 was cut down to 12/13. So I’m glad that a coach actually thought about the well being of the kids. Could he have brought 2 subs and played without them? Sure. But one injury over there and that’s overkill for the girls.

As for who got called up, I believe the club and the 08 and 07 coaches did pick the right players as it was a good balance of positions. And they impacted the game resulting in goals. The two girls families never say a word and are not the loud mouths of the team. (The loud ones left the 08 team for cfc mid fall season)

Now regarding the other oakwood 07 drama…. I’ll just say that whoever posted earlier about the one family…. They aren’t wrong. But I won’t drag their name around like them. That’s not right. But the club does need to make a decision on if they will continue with their “sponsorship” and that drama or finally play the best kids.

No team is perfect. No club is perfect. FSA CFC RUSH you name it I’m sure they all have money related situations. My kid is happy so that’s all that matters. But figured I’d let the CT soccer world in on a parents perspective from that team.

“Resulting in goals” omg bwahahaha to tie a game vs opponents in the 3rd division of a crappy league? By never say a word ow 08 behind the scenes mommy actually means “never say a word when others are around”. The two that got “called up” are the ones who are always in the coaches ear minus one other one. Could have easily brought someone from their 07s edp team because that was the level of play anyways.

the coaching on the girls side is terrible yes the 05s are good, they been playing together for years and they don't need a coach they just play. the 06 and 07 groups are train wrecks due to lack of coaching throughout the years. 07s have a mom that donates $$ to the club so her daughter can play on a team, the 06s have an awful coach.

Coaches recruit players, not teams. Doesn't matter the division - my daughter contacted coaches in advance and they all came to watch her play. Mission accomplished.

Yes the age appropriate EDP players should have been called up, not younger players who coaches wouldn't even be looking at. Another example of OW only caring about their A teams

because the program is run more like a town travel team.

1) ECNL remains the draw for top players

2) GAL isn't for everyone

3)OW is no longer a top CT club and has never cared much about their girls teams

Oakwood young teams are all week. The problem is oakwood in the past would compile some good players as they got older from Ginga and sporting etc. and now none of those players are going to leave their club for the gal league. Gal will die a slow death. The top teams will go Ecnl and the lower gal teams will end up EDP. The top local club players will leave pretty much only for cfc now.
