The girl 07s never played the 09s in a game. False information.
The real issue is that one family cuts a massive check, rumor is 25-30K, and is the sponsor on the jersey. The kid wouldn’t make the travel team she’s that bad. The mother paces the sidelines with a STOPWATCH and if the coach plays her anything less than half the game she brags about her or the husband emailing/calling Rick/Dave and complaining. Every time after she magically starts the next game. Clearly they tell the coach they have no choice. 3 different coaches now being forced to play her when she would be cut if she was anyone else. That’s the issue. (And yes we have kids in the club and have witnessed this first hand)
Oakwood needs to decide if this is the Veltri medical practice with the 07s or a team that they actually want to compete. My guess is Dave and Rick will always choose the $$ over the kids.Comment

You don’t need to be an official club sponsor to call the coach and get your kid PT over at Oakwood. You just have to be a busybody bitch. That club is loaded with parents like that. Every single team there has five or six of those sets of parents. Playing kids up is an OW thing. Normally at any other club at most there's one standout player that should play up. Even then it's not a regular thing, but at OW it is a regular thing to have multiple playing up.Originally posted by Guest View PostComment

Did they NEED to bring two players or did they do it to satisfy parents? It is hardly appropriate to bring along 08s to a college showcase in California and only makes sense if they were really down players.Comment

Well without the 2 players they brought up that would leave them 2 subs for 3 games in 4 days. So yes I’d say they needed them. As a parent on that 07 team I’m actually happy they did bring them. I was there. Physically they needed the extra players to rotate people through. 3 games in 4 days under that pressure is massive. People had their reasons not so send their kids. Some school related. Some Covid related. And 3 major knee injuries as well from last year that aren’t recovered. Quickly the roster of 18 was cut down to 12/13. So I’m glad that a coach actually thought about the well being of the kids. Could he have brought 2 subs and played without them? Sure. But one injury over there and that’s overkill for the girls.Originally posted by Guest View Post
As for who got called up, I believe the club and the 08 and 07 coaches did pick the right players as it was a good balance of positions. And they impacted the game resulting in goals. The two girls families never say a word and are not the loud mouths of the team. (The loud ones left the 08 team for cfc mid fall season)
Now regarding the other oakwood 07 drama…. I’ll just say that whoever posted earlier about the one family…. They aren’t wrong. But I won’t drag their name around like them. That’s not right. But the club does need to make a decision on if they will continue with their “sponsorship” and that drama or finally play the best kids.
No team is perfect. No club is perfect. FSA CFC RUSH you name it I’m sure they all have money related situations. My kid is happy so that’s all that matters. But figured I’d let the CT soccer world in on a parents perspective from that team.Comment
