High School is great because of Club soccer

Why do they keep moving the high school soccer thread? High school and club soccer are directly related to one another. Are there any clubs not allowing their players to do school soccer? Will GDA allow high school soccer? Or are the clubs shutting down for high school season starting this week?

GDA is technically grandfathering in HS soccer for a few years but in reality it won't happen often. Clubs won't want a group of players missing for 3-4 months when the DA season is ten months long.

In general there is very little club action when HS is in session. It's unrealistic for players to effectively do both physically and from a time standpoint. A few states even ban it outright while others have rules that HS has to come first whenever there's a conflict.

What High school would want a team of GDA players? The high school coach wouldn't have to work very hard to hold practices to win. But would the players show up for games or make GDA games and tournaments the priority?

First no HS is going to have an abundance of GDA players. Each team is about 22 players across two age groups. Even with the (absurd) number of GDA clubs in FL this won't be a factor at many high schools. Second, as the OP said in some states you can't do both or you have to make HS the priority, even for practices. Third, if there's no state rules a HS coach can make whatever rule they want. They can bench players for missing events; or they can let the stars do whatever they want and sow dissention among the rest of the team.

On the other side most DA clubs allow for NO excuses for missing any event other than basically your own hospitalization. Most DA clubs do not do waivers except for prep school kids who are getting $ for playing. It causes too many issues so they avoid it whenever possible

But high school coaches will take them and let them miss every high school practice because they want to win. Any game a GDA player shows up for is better than not having them at all.
