If you knew anything about soccer recruitment, you would know that the Gator soccer coaches have not been to a HS game since last year's state championships and that is only because FHSAA picked up their travel expenses.

We need to step back and just let the kids play. If they are good, they will get noticed.

Ouch. No posts in the last 30 days. I guess that shows the interest in your kid having fun and playing rec soccer in HS.
Thank you for stopping by. Please exit the thread and get a clue.

Not hating dude but you are on a soccer forum and that means you are going to be dealing with people who are raising a kid that has the chops to play in a power conference. We don't hang out on the HS thread. We don't hang out on the academic forums. We are drawn to TS because we all have a Mia or Landy who is intent on playing at the next level. I guess you HS fans should start your own forum....oh, wait. You do have one:

Stay in school children. Be smarter than us parents!
1. Those that did not make DA or ECNL
2. Those that can't afford ECNL
If your kid was playing in the leagues, you would be on the other side of the fence. Admit it.

Plenty of interest among the parents. Just move over to the rec thread and quit coming on here with your holier than thou academic/florida prepaid attitude. Plenty of people on here going that route but we are supposed to be TALKING SOCCER. So quit criticizing us for showing up to the well to drink water.

The only reason women soccer is as strong as it is its because it was the ONLY one in the world until just recently. In a year or two, other countries will blow right pass us. Men's? We are not even in the same league. So go ahead and get your little Mia and Landy into a "power conference". We are very good at lying to our children and telling them they are the best in the world when in reality they are the bottom in almost every category. "In a land of the blind, a one eye man is king!" best describes US Soccer in general.

Go to Topdrawer.com and look up the player rankings or club rankings. All DA and ECNL clubs. It is not a money scam. It is the realization by dedicated soccer professionals who have played at the college and pro level that the US needed to improve their development system. DA and ECNL are the result. Nothing will replace them. Nothing will come along to be the next flavor of the month because too many people at the top level of US Soccer have been a part of the development of these leagues. Anyone who complains falls into one of two camps:
1. Those that did not make DA or ECNL
2. Those that can't afford ECNL
If your kid was playing in the leagues, you would be on the other side of the fence. Admit it.
You also must not have been watching our National Teams play lately. DA is a failure and only exists as a money maker. You yourself are most likely one of the ones getting rich off our ignorant backs. DOC? Coach?. Yes, that is it. Who is it that you are developing by the way? All we see are foreign players that come here already formed. Who have we developed after all the millions that have been invested...BY US PARENTS!

But get back on topic man. The debate is whether ECNL and DA are money scams. They are not. They produce the best talent this country has and within the next 4-years, you will see national teams that are exclusive of ECNL and DA players.

That is why we will continue producing rich, soft, spoiled, lilly white soccer players that collapse in the face of hungry Hondurans!

I have read every page of this thread and I'm amazed by some of the thoughts and ideas. You see I'm one of the few that you are referring to. I grew up in South Florida, played for an elite club program, played for the Fl ODP program, made the regional team and tried out but never made a national team. At 18 after a trip to Germany I had a few offers in Germany but being soccer naïve my parent insisted that I get a college education. I was offered a scholarship to the University of Conneticut and took it. When I finished school I played in the A league for a few years. Now I work and coach at a high school.
There has been some times when a club coach and myself my have not seen eye to eye. But a simple phone call has cleared up many issues. I understand that hs takes a back seat to club but ask any player if they regret playing in hs and I bet you have very few. I also understand that many parents see hs soccer as an opportunity for their student athlete to get injured or lose some skill. Yes, this may be the case at some/many schools, but the life lessons learned on the hs pitch can't be replicated at club soccer.
I make sure that I schedule some tough games and easier games so that the high level club players get time off to rest and play younger players. I also try to work with not against the club coaches (showcases and tournament).. After many years I have learned and understand players will come and go but the club is always there.
Yes, I also coached club for many years, I stopped because of all the politics. So to be honest there is perfect system. My advice is do what's best for your child. As a hs I won't be mad at you. We will just adapt and keep moving forward.
