Soccer should be fun all the time. Anytime you get to play, whether HS or club you should enjoy it. Don't listen to these 20 something english morons telling you any different. They don't want the players to get hurt and that's selfish. It's not about development, because most can't teach or develope to begin with. Trust me, if you can play the club coach will kiss your ass. Have fun and play every day:)

Club is so driven by ego and the movement to be on the best team playing for the best coach means that many of the worst of the worst parents end up on the same sideline. One blowhard going on and on about scores, rankings, ODP, ID2 and Showcases is one thing. 3 or more dads doing that is like nails on a chalkboard. You are literally the only ones on the sideline and you can't escape them. At least in HS you have a stadium where you can get as far away from those jackwagons as possible...even if it means sitting with the opposing team.
You really need to quit soccer all together!!!!!!

I don't play. My kid does. Perhaps that is your problem.

That is why they put those giant aluminum bleachers there....so you can move away from the yappers. I have no problem sitting away from the mommy and daddy coaches.

The worst are those parents that will only cheer for their own kid, and I don't mean generall cheering, which would be welcome, Go Blue! whatever, but nope, the only thing that ever comes out of their mouth is their kid's name, like they are the only kid on the team, and usually it comes when they are steeling the ball from one of their own teammates... can hardly wait for this crap to begin.

The thing that surprised me the most about High School soccer is how elite players and players already committed to college look like incompetent players. Is it because they are not in a top system? They can't make an accurate pass or score a goal in High School and how are they going to play in college.

It is usually the outside Mids or forward's parents...Always saying "take it to the goal"...then they shoot from a bad angle missing the goal, either shooting it wide, over, or right to the keeper.

Some of those players play on ecnl or elite club teams and it should be easier for them to score. But they don't. So strange.

I guess those elite players are playing down to the level around them, not wanting to embarrass their teammates

You can't be serious. Are you saying that one or two ECNL/elite kids can win a game? It's hard to get anything done when you don't have anyone to work with on the field. The other obstacle is field placement. Putting kids where they want to play vs. where they should play.

The majority on both teams are elite and that is why they can't score.

HS Soccer you need 4 players a good goalie,CD,Mid,forward. You have those the others can be fill players and you should win most of your games. Until regionals and states

I'll say that with a solid back line, you should be fine until the end of season. to another poster, we have a pretty solid team of club players, and we generally play HS that don't carry the numbers that we do, and most games are fairly easy. Problem you do often see and I think it happens more with girls, they do tend to play down to the level of the other team. Strange as it sounds... they get giddy, or whatever and the play turns less serious and lots more fun for them.

These so called elite players are ball hogs. I watched an elite player take 10-15 shoots at goal and miss every single one of them. It would have been better if she would of served the ball to the CF/CM that were wide open. But NOOOOO, she had to try and take a bad angle (2 yards off the end line) shoot from outside the 18. A real elite player would know better, but when you have mom on the sideline yelling "take it to the goal sis"....
