All First Coast Boys soccer team

The all First Coast team went out last Thursday. Any comments on that? First of all I think the POY AJ Nelson was truly deserved this year. Despite how much he can whines (JK) on the field he truly was the standout this year in Jacksonville. Congratulations to him!

The rest of the team raised some questions and debate on my part but of course some of it is based on the coaches campaigining for thier players. One position that stood out to me was keeper. The kid at epsicopal is good but there was no love for sheffield from englewood (honorable mention?). How does will henderson not make 1st team? He is one of the most dangerous forwards in the area except he played for a sub par OP team. He and Vega from mandarin are certainly heads and shoulders over the forward from Providence.

I really am not bashing, just voicing my opinion there will always be opinions on this. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Two big mistakes were not including Vega from Mandarin and Wiggins from OP in the first team. Another was November from Fletcher not being more than an honorable mention. I would rather not state which kids "should not have been on the first team." But, in the long run most of the kids that deserved mention as the best players in North FL were included somewhere on the list. I am not sure making the team was so much coaches politicking for their players as much as how far the players team made it into the state playoffs. It seems that was weighted more than the individual quality of the players.

I forgot about November. That was a real injustice to him. great kid and hard worked on the field. Any coach would love to have him on the team. He should have been recognized ahead of tracy

It is alot of campaigning, but most of the picks were pretty on spot. I do agree that sheffield should have been higher, as well as Julian Mitchell from Wolfson, but out of all the players on the first coast, just making the list is pretty good, especially for the keepers, they pick many forwards, mids, and defenders, but only five keepers.
