According to Land O’ Lakes boys soccer coach Mark Pearson, at least three of his players will to participate in college athletics.
Gators keeper Alex Spock will play soccer at USF. And considering the notoriety he has gained on the football field as a kicker, it wouldn’t be surprising if he got a sniff from USF coach Jim Leavitt.
Spock will join teammate Felix Soto, who will run cross country for the Bulls. Also, forward Dominic Cutrofello will play soccer at Florida Atlantic University.
Sebastian Garcia, the Gators’ midfielder, is waiting on word from Harvard after being accepted to Penn, Georgetown and Yale. Pearson said it’s up in the air if Garcia will play soccer, but of accepted to Harvard, he likely will.
Entering Thursday night’s Class 5A-Region 2 Quarterfinals, Spock played 540 minutes in goal and collected 10 shutouts. During the football season, Spock connected on 28 extra points and nine field goals. On kickoffs, 31 of the 44 kicks were touchbacks. He also had a 35.07 punt average.
Congratulations LOLs for helping these young men work hard and get a chance to play at the next level .
