1) EAST LAKE(latest ranking by espn has them at 19, hoping to see them and jesuit meet up in postseason play) Not no more EL will be out of the florida top 10 by seasons end and off the espn ranking too. Over rated team with lazy players .
2) JESUIT ( latest espn ranking has them at 28) NEW #1
3) BERKELEY ( quality side but struggling as of late, still personal favorite to take the 3a state title) STAYS SAME
4) DURANT( quality team who play tough and lead by strong play from both forwards)
5) LOL ( A team many people think is overrated until they lose to them, DC, AS, and FV make this team very tough to beat)
6) TAMPA PREP (even though they have lost alot of games they are still a very quailty team)
7) SICKLES ( from what I have seen they are a very strong team but is hit or miss sometimes with their play)
8) WHARTON (two games dropped to Alonso isnt impressive for the defending 5a state champs but once players return from injury they will be very dangerous)
9) PALM HARBOR ( good side hoping they can recover from smashing by east lake) #2 NOW
10) ALONSO (finally show that they can compete with the best)
Multiple-way tie for first place in the TAMPA BAY area.
(In no particular order)
Jesuit/East Lake/Palm Harbor/Berkeley Prep/Land O' Lakes/Freedom/Durant/Tampa Prep (healthy)
Scratch that. All of these teams would probably have to play multiple-game series before anyone could decide a clear winner. On any given night........?? This says great things for the level of play in our region, and as fans of the sport, we should be grateful. This area could potentially win State Championships in 2A, 3A, 5A, and 6A classifications. Not sure about 4A.
Tampa Prep absolutely not...way too many losses. Other than 3 players, they have no talent. Palm Harbor lost to Berkley in the Admiral 5-1 didn't they? That was interesting.
Freedom ties way too many teams.
Durant/Jesuit/East Lake/Berkley/LandOLakes
Durant and Jesuit game was close. Berkeley vs Jesuit/LOL was close. Jesuit vs. East Lake was close.
Perfect example of how talented the Tampa Bay Area is as a whole.
Yes. PH lost to Berkeley in Admiral Cup 5-1. They walked around like zombies. However, there were lots of players on the field that had played (between regular HS season, Disney, Sun Bowl, and Admiral Cup) as many as 11 games in the 2 weeks involving Admiral Cup. Don't discount PH. They have the talent to get the job done on any given day. Just depends on whether or not they show up.
With final 4 in Tampa who from the list will be there
I would expect the winner of Jesuit/Palm Harbor to make it, Berkeley Prep and possibly Durant.
Whoever wins out of Freedom and Land O' Lakes will probably be a favorite with George Jenkins getting beat yesterday. Tampa Prep can beat Bradenton St. Stephen's, but they aren't as tight defensively as they have been the last couple of seasons. If Alex Regin is back and healthy, he got injured during St. Stephen's win earlier in the season, they'll have a much better shot.
