    Re-Classification

With the new re-classification information out, does anyone see movement in the soccer scene?

If we base it on the numbers for volleyball, baseball, softball and basketball, here are the new enrollment totals for each classification. It looks like FHSAA is trying to put the same number of teams into each class. The FB playoff structure has changed but I am not sure that will carry over. The only issue w/ this is that the other sports have a 1A class but soccer will not so I am not sure if the 2A number will be the same.

These are the numbers for volleyball which, for the girls, is the best indicator of the soccer districts
    6A - 2324+ students
    5A - 1879 - 2323 students
    4A - 1346 - 1878 students
    3A - 551 - 1345 studentss
    2A - 212 - 550 students
    1A - up to 211 students

              not sure of the teams.

go here and you will see a spreadsheet of the new classes. I didnt go a distrcit breakdown as I have no clue how the FHSAA will break those out.

It lists all of the new classes based on the numbers provided by the FHSAA. They are color coded by class. When the color changes, that is a new class. I figured it was self explanatory since it says that at the top of the page, but i forgot that people like you would be reading it and couldn't figure that out.

No one will have the exact district breakdown until the FHSAA releases it in a week or so. They already released the numbers they are using for the classes as well as the numbers reported by each school. That is where my information came from.

                    Re: Re-Classification

It leaves only 3 Tampa Bay area schools in 6A - Wharton, Bloomingdale and Brandon. They do not have 6A schools in Football. I would assume that these schools would petition to stay in 5A next year. Some other borderline schools (in term of student count) include Dunedin and Boca Ciega. Do they move to 4A and with whom or do they petition to stay in 5A?

Thanks for posting, Slide Tackle. If your list proves to be accurate there are some big names that could be dropping to 2A, namely:

                        Clearwater Central Catholic
                        Melbourne Central Catholic
                        Trinity Prep
                        PK Yonge

Not a problem. I an anxious to see the new listings in a week or so. I would assume that many schools will ask to move up or down depending on where they get placed. After all of the football movement, I am sure FHSAA will get bombarded w/ requests and appeals.

Of course, the FHSAA could just decide not to allow any appeals.

I know. PK Yonge used to be in our district before they moved up. St Johns, Tampa Prep, and AHD might have some competition in the finals now. I have also heard rumors that AHD may akd to play 3A and their sister school in Plantation may ask to play 4A. I will believe that when I see it.

On the FHSAA website, it says something about revoking fall soccer recognition status. What does this mean? Thanks :)
