Re: What is going on at Lake Brantley Girls?
She thought she was above the law. Was late to the team meeting, didn't start because of it...got huffy, said her knee hurt and couldn't play and then up and quit in the middle of the game. Sometimes the "best"players think the world needs to bow at their feet. The coach has rules that everyone on the team must follow. There aren't certain rules for bench players and other rules for the "superstars". Hard lesson for some to learn.

Any chance they had of having a winning record this year is now gone. This school has a record of hiring bad coaches for the girls soccer team.

Wow... so all of their hopes rest on 1 player? If that is the case, they wouldn't have a winning season even if she did play. Last I checked, this was a team sport and there were 11 players on the field. Can't win with 1 superstar.

It's a shame because the kid has talent, and yes, she could have made a difference for her team because Seminole County doesn't have as many good soccer players spread across the teams as it once had. Heck, she didn't even have to do much to get the top recognition if last year was any indication. The politics were on her side. To think how many Seniors were cheated last year that actually stuck it out even though they were on bad teams with a bad coach and playing through pain. It's a shame character doesn't count for anything, anymore.

Oviedo is 6 and 0. Lake Mary and Winter Springs each have three wins. That's a huge leap from the best team to the next two. And Lake Mary and Winter Springs both tied each other. And this is without Winter Springs having their best offensive player from last year, Vanessa Aponte. Now, she's not enough to make a difference against Oviedo, but if she comes back by January, it will be enough to tip the hand over to WS, assuming they don't incur the injuries they incurred last year (which included VA).
So, now we have Lake Brantley. Last year Winter Springs managed to stay in third against Lake Brantley even when VA and three other starters were sitting on the bench with injuries. Mitchell had a great game and showed a lot of leadership in that game, even though they lost. Without her, the team has little chance to overtake either Lake Mary or Winter Springs. And I am not surprised that her walking off, would have a domino effect, since the girls on the team probably see her as a leader. The sad truth is that other players in the county have had to play with a coach who has repetitively made the wrong decisions and still managed to get through the season without making a scene. So what is the difference with Lake Brantley?

Lake Brantley has 3 wins as well and only lost to Lake Mary 1-0 without Mitchell (she was at Homecoming at the time).
