George Jenkins HS Beats Eastlake HS

I guess we all saw this coming. If you take Lea away from Eastlake they have no team.

Why would she be 'taken away', especially for this game? Is she hurt?

There is a photo of her online at the St. Pete times on the field, so yes she played. Don't know what the poster is talking about.

Before you make a comment on any individual player, read what actually happened as the game blog can be found here.

Isn't Alicia Nalley committed to FL?

I doubt it came from Seminole. Everything is spelled correctly.

Yes dad, but you already knew that. Bright Futures is a wonderful thing. Kids go to school for free, doesn't cost the soccer coach anything.

I would like to say congrats to both teams for the run they had. I think eastlake did surprise a few people. I am not from either school , just an interested observer. Not from Seminole either. Great Job Girls

Wow, you are a pretty evil person. I'm not her Dad, my kids don't even play in that district. FL fan - hence the question.

So you're saying she is commiteed to FL as a junior, and yet you're already sure she's getting no soccer money and going on bright futures. I'm sure they've gone around and recruited average players b/c they're free. Are you crazy? Sounds more like she works hard on the field and in the classroom. Why is a teenager deserving of your personal criticism on a public forum? You should address your jealousy?, frustration?, dissappointment?... whatever it is that makes you behave like this. It can't be good for you.
BTW, she must be getting at least a partial (like most of the team), b/c they don't take the preffered walk-ons until after the junior commits are done. The're not done, some are still undecided.

Great post. I never new being smart and a good athlete was something to not be proud of. Congratlations to her. Anyway, the point just proves what an idiot the author of the thread is to think a team can go as far as EL did with just one player. We all know there have to be more than just these 2. Good job EL. I hope you had fun.

Better check again. Becky is already committing sophomores. She doesn't like it, but the system is forcing her to before she loses them because the recruiting is being accerated so much.

You're right, schools are committing sophmores already - nothing new there. Did I say otherwise? That doesn't mean that they don't still have undecided juniors, or that they have made promises to walk-ons from '09 yet. Looks like you need to do the checking.

You are correct, rescruiting is getting out of hand. And the earlier the young players are forced to make early verbal commitments, the more people end up changing their minds before signing. Then it gets even crazier.

And for those who think that Bright Futures cover the cost of your child's education, you have a surprise coming. Dorms, meal plans and books dwarf tuition costs which is all Bright Futures covers in most cases. Many get only 75%, a few get a little more than 100% If this UF signee is getting soccer money to help with dorms (about $4000 per year for 2 semesters) or food (another $3000 or more), then she is doing very well indeed. Good luck to all in this very very special time of your life.
