    Brevard County

Now you have your own thread ... and you can discuss your 3 teams all you want here.

I will saythat I saw Melbourne play Boca and I don't think there are any teams in S. Fla that can touch them right now. They won state last year and finished ranked #1 in the country in both ESPN and NSCAA. And they've been #1 nationally all year long again. Their coach must be doing something right. But I much prefer S. Florida so don't worry we won't be coming your way any time soon.

Brevard County has teams in 4 classes - that's 3A - 6A (none in 2A). They won both the 5A and 4A divisions.

Congratulations to the Merritt Island and Melbourne girls - quite an accomplsihment winning 2 out of the 4 classes in which you competed.

Yes, they played pretty well this past year, both those teams played each other this past season and it was a close game with Mel Hi winning. Any way it may be a different story next year. Congrats to those schools and the others.

From what I saw this year, Viera was as good as any of the other 3 class 5A teams. Although they couldn't beat Melbourne, they were always very close. I know they were better then Seminole. The two Stengel sisters were a tough act to beat and one of them is back next year.

I would say that the district in which those two teams played probably the most competitive. Even palm bay, although not a very good team in the county, could compete in most other venue's outside brevard. I mean look we had merritt island, satallite beach, mcc, mel hi, viera, bay side, vero beach, west shore all very competitive. They all play each other and I believe that puts them in very good shape when it comes to regional and state play. Every game day in and day out is very tough to win.

Now that Sickles is out, Melbourne boys should win 5A pretty much uncontested

How does that school continue to win year after year. I meen the county goes through a rezoning to the highschools and they get better. I guess they must attracked good players there.

It doesn't help when there are no penalties for playing at a school outside your zone. And I think the coaches attrack those players. I know that most of them are club coaches and probably those club players prefer to play for them at highschool as well. The Mel Hi girls coach is very good and has a very positive coaching style. Would imagine that his reputation allows for kids to want to play for him.

Mel Hi boys just whooped the Seminole boys - again Melbourne wins boys, as the girls (aginst Seminole also), win back to back state championships. Someone's doing something right in Brevard county!
