    DEFENDERS

How come defenders rarely get credit for a win? A forward could score in the first minute and the defense has to hold the win the whole game yet the forward still gets all the credit.

    Midfielders have the same problem.

This issue is common in all sports. Does the average football fan know who plays left tackle for the New England Patriots? Probably not, but I bet they know who plays quarterback or wide receiver.

Saw this on a t-shirt a kid was wearing at a HS game....... "OFFENSE puts people in the seats, but DEFENSE wins Championships".

As the mother of a goalkeeper, you're preaching to the choir. No one cares about all os his shut outs, but they all blame him for a 1-0 loss. That's when the forwards should be blamed for not making more goals.

A patient presents to the hospital with a life-threatening condition. If the doctor saves the patient's life, the patient thanks God. If the patient dies, the family blames the doctor. Your GK son should grow up to be a doctor, he is already prepared for this.

Unless you are talking about soccer, where nothing puts people in the seats.

Ya but keepers ALWAYS get credit for shut outs. The ignorant newspaper writers will extol a keeper for the shutout but fail to mention he only had to make four saves all game long. The defense NEVER gets credit. Happens to my team every single game.

On good teams the best defenders are your best athletes that are very disciplined and usually the strongest toughest players on the field, besides being the the keepers best friend. Great defense is an art.

You can win a game, if the other team scores on you, but if you don't score, you can't win a game.

In many games, especially at the high school level, you will see a striker score a goal or two, then be put into defense for the rest of the game.

How oftern do you see a defensive player start as a striker.
