HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER PARENTS

So, it's not the parents and it's not really even the refs that you should be annoyed at, but the coaches who have turned this game into a rugby match at too young an age, minimizing opportunities for kids to learn skills, and creating too many incidents of injury which elminate others from playing soccer.
I think you are missing the point here, we can all agree that parents of young athletes will get caught up in th moment and yell and scream once in a while, but I thing what the initial poster was talking about, and correct me if I am wrong here, is the level of lunacy some of these parents can reach and how embarrasing it can be to their own kids (of course most of them will never their parents about it) Regardless of who's fault the rough play is, we still need to use common sense and act somewhat rationally while watching these games, don't we? how come some parents manage to keep it civilized and others just can't help it and loose control?

I'm the first to admit that soccer is a sport I wish my daughter had never selected, or if she had, she had selected better teams and coaches. I wouldn't be the first to note that the game is out of control. There is a certain NBA basketball manager who pulled his daughter out of the sport and put her in a sport with less contact after she suffered an injury early in her career. He was amazed how much the soccer parents on the team were willing to watch as their daughters got pummeled. So you see, it's all relative. Maybe the question should be, considering how many injuries take place on the field, why don't more parents lose it on the sidelines?

Same reason you shouldn't loose it when someone cuts you off in traffic and all your children are in the car listening to EVERY word you say, and then repeating everything Momy and Daddy say and do, that's why.

I would also like to point out that now you're talking about foul language and I have never heard foul language on the sidelines. Heated arguments and loud mouth parents, yes. But never foul language. And you know why? Because the other parents would complain and the refs would have the leverage to evict the parent.
By the way, there is one loud mouth parent with a scottish accent who many U-18 parents are familiar with, and I've seen the ref handle the situation by intentionally not calling in favor of his team. The other parents on the team shut him up.

Did it ever cross your limited mind that maybe we have friends with kids that do play soccer and are always talking about this forum?? of course not, that would make way too much sense. By the "conspiracy theory" tone of your post, I bet you were one of those parents blaming the refs that night for trying to take away your kids game, go ahead...admit it.
Ok, you got me, and the US goverment was behind the 9/11 attacks and JFK's death. :smt023

For someone whose children do not play soccer, you sure spend an awful lot of time on this talking-soccer web site. I bet you will even reply to this post. LOL. P.S. Why do you think the US Govt was behind the 9/11 attacks and who is JFK???[/quote]
I started the discussion, so why wouldn't I check to see what is being said about it? You people are really paranoid and weird, what relevance does whether or not my kids play soccer or not have to the point being made here about parents loosing their cool at games? Guess you didn't get the US Gov reference; it was sarcasm just in case you didn't notice.

I always try not to "loose" my cool during games. I hate when I see parents "loosing" their cool. It's so loose.
"You people"....LOL. Maybe you should go to the "Talking-Skeet-Shooting" forum or "Talking-Nose-Picking" or whatever it is your kids do. LOL.
