elite players

I read that coaches should not allow their elite players to play high school soccer. How many elite players do you think are in Florida?I agree an elite player should be doing something better than high school. But I have only seen two or three kids in the state that I would consider elite.

There is many more than two or three elite players in florida. There is many more than that in the National pool from Florida.

So don't be offended that your child is not one.

There is many more than two or three elite players in florida. There is many more than that in the National pool from Florida.

There are quite a few, I personally know of 4 and I am not familiar with the national pools. So I am sure there are many more. If you look at regional pool players (which I would call elite) there may be as many as 8 per age group. Then you have State Team players which is probably over 100.
I think the easy way to look at elite players is to look at elite club teams. At U15 to U18 you may have 4 to 6 elite teams. Of those teams, How many of those players can play D1 soccer? I would say those are your elite players for High School. If you look at the top ranked teams at U18, I think you will find more than half the players are going to D1 schools.

I am not trying to slight the players on weaker teams and I know some D1 players are on some of those teams. I guess it may be more accurate to say that if you look at the girls that actually have the ability to play D1 soccer then they are your elite players.

I may disagree with you, but I do appreciate the informed response. I can
understand your definition of elite. It does bring us back to what we think a elite team is. I feel that the ability to play D1 college makes you a good player but not necessarily elite.

For instance, this past summer at the regional camp, the U-18 Florida team went undefeated and beat teams from S Texas, Alabama and S Carolina. The S Carolina coach was coaching the regional squad and guess how many girls were asked to participate from S Carolina vs Florida. The anwer: a lot more. So elite may be very subjective. We have many D-1 players from Florida and a few on the National teams. Not to slight the S Carolina coach, ask FSU head coach Krikorian about how recruiting. It's all about politics and gaining commitments and making promises.
