where are all the out-of-state teams? used to be that you could count on several from califonia, i dont see any or at least dont recognize any names. is it just for florida teams now?

The Elite and Premier brackets are set-up for an even distribution of play. Each bracket has defending state champions and final four teams in it, so I doubt the teams in either of the brackets would contend they have an easy road to the t i t l e. Since the state does not allow a 32 team tournament, the tournament is set up with the two brackets and in order to allow pool play and maximize the number of games to 5. The brackets are set-up in an effort to provide teams an opportunity to play schools they would otherwise not play during the season and also avoid teams that play one another during the regular season. Sometimes such a match-up is unavoidable in the late stages of the tournament. Overall, the brackets are fairly well-balanced. Keep in mind the Elite bracket was completed only recently with the addition of four teams. For this season the tournament is being held after Christmas due to the late ending semester and calendar precluding the tournament taking place prior to Christmas this year. Next season's tournment will be held on Dec. 20,22-23, 2008, which will allow the out of state teams to once again attend. California schools that were interested in attending this year were precluded from doing so, when their district schedules came out with games set during the first week of January. Those schools are not allowed to rework their schedule. We anticipate they will be back next year which will limit the number of Florida school entries.

Come on who are you kidding? Merritt is for real. Bring these teams down to south Fla. and play Boca, Cypress Bay, American H. Plantation,Jensen Beach, on and on. You just don"t seem to like Merritt, play them and hush up.

You are wrong. I have nothing against Merritt but the simple fact that you are stooping to Nease;s level and talking crap. Heck they are rated #1 in the state according to DS's rankings. I respect that. do your talking by your actions on the field. I have never seen MI play but am going to see them against Bolles next week. good luck

MI is no joke. Bolles can rise up and get anyone on the day. Heard it was very windy but still a well played game and Bolles defended real well.
