If you don't believe that this is ALL about the money then cut all three referees pay back to what they were paying AR's instead of increasing the two AR spots to center referee pay. If the three whistle aproach is truly being used for safety then in would make sense to pay all three whistles equally and pay them at the lower rate. The center should not be paid the same as he was last year, he only has .33 percent of the responsibility now with the other two whistles on the field, right? If my job cut my responsibilities by 2/3 then I would expect a pay cut as well. Let's propose that and see how fond of this idea the referees are then.

Indeed. $45 per ref per game is raping soccer teams funds. That's $135 for a 3-man system. How are teams supposed to make any money? If we were "paying-off" the refs, would be cheap, but since they aren't susally worth it.....criminal. There are some really good refs in palm beach area, but way too many lousy ones. They need a fitness test for some of them.

If you paid say $100 per ref per game some good people wpould do the job. It's just like teaching. A teacher should make about $100,000 per year then maybe some good people would become teachers.
AND YES SOME TEACHERS ARE VERY GOOD. just under paid.

i just wish one of the refs will start calling fouls and give more cards
some of these teams would have to forfeit due to ejections
but they let you sub on two yellows
safety first, protect players, off ball fouls, yeah right
just call the game use the cards and players will fall in line
if you don't protect players they will protect themselves
basketball players get five fouls then they are out
          call the fouls, ref

Dang, dude...what area do you play in? In our area, they call a foul every time two player's shadows overlap. They call way too many fouls, interrupting the flow of the game, advantage is non-existent. Let the kids play!!!! Soccer is a contact sport. Wimps go home. Parents of wimpy players need to shut-up or switch their kid to the chess team. I REPEAT. SOCCER IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE A CONTACT SPORT. Sweepers rule! :supz:

grabbing, two footed lunging tackles, elbows, shirt pulling, shoving from behind are not tough things
lazy and untrained players should not be rewarded
shoulder to shoulder and face to face
              that's skill and tough
if i lunge at you with both feet you will not get away
what if while i was dribbling you came to tackle me and i slide with both feet foward, all my 200lbs behind my cleats, and you just used your one foot turned to the side
not only do i win the challenge, but you might have a half, game, season, or career ending injury, does that make me tough or criminal
they don't allow tripping or slide tackling in football or blocking from the back or holding grabbing or horse collar or hands to the face
play hard under the laws of the game
protect players that do it right
let em play not assault and cheat
for the players that tackle hard and fair, you are tough
              the rest

Actually, "Mr. Sweeper" is a starting defender on a highly-ranked NCAA Div. I squad. He says college soccer makes the high school game look like ballroom dancing. It's brutally physical, and the refs let a lot go. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a well-timed, clean slide tackle (getting the ball first, of course).

Sweeper = big dumb fast kid that can't play well. Plays brutally physical due to lack of skill. Will be flipping burgers or coaching at RSL in three years.

That sounds so dumb. Your team must suck.

I agree with previous poster about the 3 refs being out of position. Some good team is going to lose a game because an offsides call that should have been called will not be called because the ref was not in a position to make the call. If I were a high school coach I would not plan on playing any offside traps as these 3 refs will not be able to make the call because they are always out of position when the game transitions from one team to the other. Seen it happen every game as these refs can not keep up with 16 - 18 year old players. The refs could barely keep up with offsides when it was center ref and two linesmen, now it is even worse.

I agree. My team has already been 'burnered' twice for lack of an offsides call or making an offsides call and the kid was not off. I have seen it called for and aginst us. The other 2 'whistel blowers' need to stay with the last defender and accurately call offsides. As you stated they ahd enough problem staying on top of it last eyar and now it is worse.
