Probably because she wants to win another state championship and she knows that RSL will give her the best shot.

Why are so many girls quiting HS soccer.

Are the coaches that bad or is it something else?

the result last night will show you why at st pete
1-1 over a bad lakewood side
a lot of very good club players with a coach that has no skill
when he had the very best group of students he could not lose
now he has a group of very good players and doesnt play them the right way
there is one player on that team that everyone hates she is a bi**h and he knows it and does nothin which is why some players quit and more are coming

She has already committed to UCF and does not want (or need) the extensive travel that her old team (now IMG) goes through in a given year. Time to take it easy and play in a less demanding environment like RSL. No R3PL travel. No big budget. No tough training. Enjoy her last year of HS. It is unlikely that RSL will repeat their miracle run of 2007 this year. Nobody expects much from this team, except the drone parents who bought into BJ's BS.

I am a HS & Club coach and while I take offense at the blanket accusations that HS coaches have a "God" complex and don't know, don't care, and/or don't do what is in the best interest of their players; I also know that coaches like that are out there. I am currently coaching girls at a small private school and I have to deal w/ club coaches telling them not to play HS ball, club teams going to tournaments in the middle of my HS season, etc. , etc. My focus is on developing people as well as players.

I think too many coaches focus on results of the game rather than results of the nurturing and that is why girls quit and/or get burned out. It is a sad situation but please do not cast a blanket over all male coaches of girls' teams. If there is an issue that the school is choosing to not address, the issue goes far beyond the playing field. If there is an issue (proven issue) that the school is unaware of, someone should make them aware of it and not just vent on a message board.

You are funny. you down play the "god" complex but you speak of "MY" high school season. Who is God now?
I am glad I am not the only one who noticed that statement. You sound like the typical high school coach. Who cares about high school season, the elite soccer players only play high school for fun. It is not serious, it is time to spend with their friends and represent their school Nothing more. If it comes to a high school game versus a showcase, it will be the showcase everytime.
First off, the HS season is MY season. Does a club coach have a "God" complex if he refers to the club season as HIS season or the club team as HIS team.

I don't have an issue w/ club players missing HS games for showcase tournaments. My club players do it all the time. I DO have a problem with a club coach telling his players that they should skip the HS season or treat it as unimportant. What message does that send to the HS players that don't play on the high quality club teams going to these showcases? For those players, the HS is important and does mean alot. For them, they might be able to get into a small college based on HS play. Not everyone is talented enough to play D1 soccer or elite club ball. Not everyone can afford it either. Many players have the talent to get into smaller schools and get a good education. As a HS coach, it is my responsibility to help them do so. We are here for all of our players, not just the D1 prospects.

If HS soccer is so low class, unimportant and low level, why don't all club coaches just advise their "elite" players that they are not allowed to play. Their risk of injury is lowered and they may not get as burned out. They can socialize w/ their friends off the field if they want to. Personally, if I had an "elite" player that wanted to play "part - time" on my HS team, I would tell them to just stick w/ their club team.

                      Nicely put

It looks like the team could use a few of those players who quit back.

Actually because there was no school they had starters missing. The one's who quit aren't a factor.

The players that left are a major reason why this season is going like it is. Coach Napolean should be pleading with those girls to come back and save the season.
