    In Response

Had some personally directed posts on here over the last 24-hours, so instead of hijacking someone else's thread thought I would respond here to the more personal posts.

    Site Moderator
. "Hey look its the new site moderator. On all day, every day."

You are right though on here too much (procrastinating on work and interested in the league topic). Having said that, why do you care?

    Disclosure Monitor

"No, he's the "disclosure" monitor. If you reply at all with factual reason, he wants to know if you are party to either side of the discussion."

I have participated in a number of soccer forums over the years and this is by far the nastiest (the Oregon Live Youth Soccer forum was right there with it); while informative I think the tone does damage to the soccer culture in this town. I think two of the contributing factors is that folks posts unregistered and that it is poorly monitored. With some decent $s involved in this league split, I also think it is appropriate that folks disclose if they work for the Timbers, one of the leagues, or a club involved. The FTC has recently clarified its position on blogs and such (requiring greater disclosure of financial interest) and many companies have social media policies that address this.

I have not always posted registered on soccer forums, but I do now; think a little transparency outweighs the risk of having a target on your head.

Guilty as charged, but see below.

    A Word of Encouragement

"Slow Xavi, don't get discouraged, there are some of us on here who appreciate a balanced even perspective. The issue these OPL partisans are having with logic and reason is their position is neither logical or reasonable…"

Thank you it is nice of you to say. I have been through one of these splits before and lots of anger all around in my experience. Trying to make heads and tails like the other parents on here.

    The Pusher

"Re read the thread. You missed what Xavi is pushing. You missed it completely."

I am not sure what the poster thinks I am pushing.

Conspiracy Theory and Silly Site Monitor
"No. My child plays for a TA team, but your weak attempt to act as a site moderator is just silly."

This was (I think) the end of an exchange regarding disclosure. What I am came away with is that my questions regarding ties to clubs was deemed invasive by some parents:

If you are a parent, fair enough and I apologize if you thought my questions on ties were invasive.
If you work the Timbers or one of the leagues or clubs, tough. If you have skin in the game, in my opinion you should be disclosing it if you are posting on this forum. The Timbers starting disclosing on the Soccer City USA site - wish they did that here.

In terms of conspiracy theory - I think folks use the forum at time to attempt to undermine the other side of the debate, much like a political campaign; I think it is naive to think that the only ones posting in this forum are parents.

He Must be Old + plus a couple of posts on different threads calling me a troll w/in 5 minutes of each other

"Xavi must be old. It doesn't know what a web troll is, but quotes the Bard, poorly, in error. I agree, ignore the troll."

Gertrude my read/use of Shakespeare is more flexible than yours, me thinks.

I have been in a number of soccer forums over the years and never been called a troll before - that was my point. An unregistered poster calling a registered poster a troll on a couple of different threads within 5 minutes of each other is pretty rich - let me know what you think I am doing that constitutes trolling and I will adjust.

    Laughing at You

"Stop asking and answering your own questions. We are all laughing at you."

    Wrong - I don't post unregistered. Your 2nd sentence makes you a small-minded coward.

I just skimmed through that. There's two minutes of my life I wish I had back.

If that took you two minutes to read, let alone skim, you're too stupid to understand anyway.

What is your motivation in undermining those that YOU think are undermining each sides agenda ???

Im sure that most will agree, there are two sides to this whole OPL/OYSA hoopla. Each would like to win and the other to perish. It's about power and control (which equates to greed once money is introduced into the equation).

Where is that you stand to benefit financially from either side ? You too have an agenda and with that agenda comes some sort of benefit, otherwise why would you be on here every day questioning everyone's motives and not just stand on one side of the fence or the other and throw sticks back and forth.

That is my conspiracy theory about you. What it is has not been made quite clear just yet.

Wants some cheese to go with that?

I'd offer you a towel to cry in but you probably take that as a personal insult too instead of realizing that HUMOR/SNARK is the bedrock foundation of ALL on line blogs.

I was being generous. Something that your wife doesn't get from you. And if you really think that Oregon soccer is improving with a post like that, well just kill yourself and be done with it. Youth soccer here is doomed by stupidity, and further stupidity won't fix it. If you ever lived in California or Texas or any other soccer hot spot, you would understand that. Now, if you and Xavi want to improve things, stop posting and start doing. Anything other than that is just you and Xavi fornicating each other.

Beef and Bikini's .... Only good things to come out of Texas and Cali. Absolutely nothing else is good about those states. To reference them in any way as being quality is laughable.

SX, I for one really enjoy you on this site. Unlike myself, you have actually signed-up to be registered (I am still waiting to think of a good handle) and people hiding behind the keyboard attack you. I, for one, have been attacked multiple times on this site and these people (some already replied to your post) have no idea about you and your motives and it says a great deal about them.

The fact that I am not completely sure about your stance on this OYSA/OPL thing says a good deal about you. I, personally, am against the OYSA move but think there has been some good discussion in this forum if you wade through all of the nonsense, and most of the positive discussion is coming from your side.

So, keep up the posts, let these people's reign/rain roll off your back like a duck and try to keep the conversation geared towards facts and improvement.

By the way, Barca had an off game with a 4-0 win, the BPL game is struggling at the moment and the Portland Timbers are still my favorite team next to my kids'. With Porter as coach, teaching actual soccer, the future is bright.

My goal is world domination not financial return. After that truth and fair play. Have been in these league battles before, including the propaganda back and forth, so trying to filter through it all, just like every other parent.

I have served in numerous roles for the game over the years; right now I coach young kids up to 5 hours a week unpaid. I'm comfortable with that contribution to the game.

How do you contribute to the game?

I am more familiar with Cali than Texas, but it doesn't strike me as less chaotic then here; what structurally do you think either of states have figured out that we have not? Of course they win a ton, but S.Cal, Bay Area, Houston, and Dallas are also densely populated, with large latino and ethnic populations; that is a recipe for some straight up ballers. California does not appear to me to be any less chaotic than Oregon, so curious what you think they are doing right structurally that we are missing.

Thank you possession guy - just don't use OPC Timbers or FC Oswego Thusc Timbers for handler - let's save that for a futsal team. Porter is heaven sent; we're lucky to have him. Barca continues to roll, certainly a golden era (I saw 2 games at Camp Nou in the early 90s - the Dream Team era - haven't seen this crew live, would love to though).
