The whole Eastside, SU, Reign thing looked half-cocked to begin with.

Eastside applied to keep options open; when they got in and took a closer look it was thanks but no thanks, so the "partnership" with SU/Reign, which always looked more like DA trying to save face; Eastside girls going to the city for unsubsidized program was never going to happen.

SU pulling out hurts. You now have unsubsidized program without any direct feeders . . .and Reign is not one of the MLS-owned NWSL teams which can spread their overhead around multiple teams; more like Breakers and FCKC.

Unfortunate that the NWSL is struggling but understandable considering most people don’t watch women’s soccer. Even the GDA players themselves prefer to watch men’s soccer.

A lot of rumors swirling up in Seattle. On the WA Board Reign was asking SU club 80-100k. If this is true, good for them for pulling out. This is why partnerships are bad.

Wont make a difference. No need to subsidize girls Academy. Girls academy parents are wealthy and went to DA for the opportunities. Same with ECnL. Wouldn't have made any difference to the players that tried out. Academy and all clubs have scholarships for the truly needy.

Next thing you ll know anyone company will come along and make a league saying it's the most elite bs and the dumb clubs will follow like sheep 🐑.


Ecnl ran on the same platform and now especially in Oregon you see that bs doesn't get you anywhere.

Unless the clubs gift the thorns players then they couldn't compete.
