Kid is at South Kent, recruited to somewhere (?). Didn't need DA to get recognized. Not every recruited player comes from DA you do realize right? Take a look at the 2018 commitment list - many of them from prep school and non DA teams. That kid is going to be better than many DA kids.

Is there any rhyme or reason to all of this?

I saw TDS ratings listed in NLI releases from D1 schools last week. Colleges appear to be paying attention to the rating system.

        Is it a crapshoot?
A substantial part of their content you're asking about comes from parents contributing to their own children's profiles. It's a commercial enterprise whose success is driven in large part by parent emotion more than somehow measuring the accuracy of the content. It's not a public service.

I think some clubs are more actively promoting their players than others also. Makes the check writing parents happy to see Brendan has a few stars!

No, it's substantial. Look at the sheer number of players they're supposedly covering. With 140 BDA and GDA clubs x 22 players per team alone is about 3,000 players PER AGE GROUP; ECNL adds another 70-ish clubs (don't know how many boys clubs); then there's NPL, prep school kids....No friggin' way TDS is monitoring more than a small fraction. The bulk of it is coming from parents and clubs

omg. just because your kid is not getting the rating you think she deserves doesn't mean TDS is not doing their job.

the bulk of what ? go look at a player profile. several are empty. Several are full of articles that players do not upload. when you say monitoring, apart for creating a profile , which is free, what do you mean ?

you seem to think that parents are going to the site in droves and uploading information that impacts rankings - they are not. A few maybe, but not a material amount.

                        omg. omg.

Someone just provided a logical explanation why TDS is substantially and primarily an aggregator of content of 3rd party sources, provided by parents, considering every player profile includes the prompt for the player/parent to contribute content.

                        omg. omg.

just ignore the looney parent. she seems to feel her kid deserves a top TDS rating. Almost all the posts here are coming from this idiot.

You only get to see the head coach if they are specifically interested in your kid which means they know a heck of a lot about your kid before they even get there.
THe post didn't say TDS you knucklehead. It said the USSF database. Complete different. Pick up your knuckles when you walk.

As far as USSF database, i dont think (for girls) that makes sense. Why would the federation give TDS access to its player database? The USSF TDS relationship is at an all time low. Its no different to the relationship the USSF have with any other random person.

TDS are just doing their best to stay relevant. they cannot see all the players so they rely heavily on input. The kids they want to get to know, they do. Thats usually a pretty small group, they just dont have the staff or budget to get around.
i don't think they get access, but they do talk to the USSF coaches and scouts. You see the articles right? They don't just give you stars. My kids has plenty of articles that we posted as a resume for recruiting insteading of doing some of the other sites. No stars, but committed to a school that fits needs academically and athletically. That's what it's all about.

Every DA kid, no. Those that are on the radar for consideration? yes.
