Is there any rhyme or reason to all of this?
I saw TDS ratings listed in NLI releases from D1 schools last week. Colleges appear to be paying attention to the rating system.
Is it a crapshoot?

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostNo, it's substantial. Look at the sheer number of players they're supposedly covering. With 140 BDA and GDA clubs x 22 players per team alone is about 3,000 players PER AGE GROUP; ECNL adds another 70-ish clubs (don't know how many boys clubs); then there's NPL, prep school kids....No friggin' way TDS is monitoring more than a small fraction. The bulk of it is coming from parents and clubs

you seem to think that parents are going to the site in droves and uploading information that impacts rankings - they are not. A few maybe, but not a material amount.

Someone just provided a logical explanation why TDS is substantially and primarily an aggregator of content of 3rd party sources, provided by parents, considering every player profile includes the prompt for the player/parent to contribute content.
omg. omg.

You only get to see the head coach if they are specifically interested in your kid which means they know a heck of a lot about your kid before they even get there.

As far as USSF database, i dont think (for girls) that makes sense. Why would the federation give TDS access to its player database? The USSF TDS relationship is at an all time low. Its no different to the relationship the USSF have with any other random person.
TDS are just doing their best to stay relevant. they cannot see all the players so they rely heavily on input. The kids they want to get to know, they do. Thats usually a pretty small group, they just dont have the staff or budget to get around.
