Top league? Yes, more depth than GA, but that doesn’t mean they have all the top teams or clubs. Look at Topdrawer club rankings, NEFC is higher than Stars but…stars plays in ECNL so they are better….according to you. Almost all clubs have a good team or two in an age group and one or two thats struggling. Undeniably ECNL is the better league but you are fooling yourself if you think Stars or Scorps are the only clubs worth playing for.

Recruiters DO NOT care about the a team’s bogus rank. They ONLY are concerned with INDIVIDUAL players and their ability. Majority of high level coaches/recruiters will shop at ECNL first.

Team does matter somewhat ,that’s why the best are condensed onto one or two teams when they are older. It will also get that team in the highest tournament bracket possible.Best players surrounded by like players perform not having to cover for weaker players.Nobody’s shopping E bracketed teams.

As has been said there are a few good teams and players but no way those players came from the like of LISC. Players in that age group probably joined GAL much younger when GAL was GDA and a stronger league. They would have been locked in awhile ago.

Can someone help me with math. Are the 07s mostly freshman with a few 8th graders that have fall birthdays?

Some of the players on the teams being denigrated on these lists will move to the ECNL clubs and quietly displace the homegrown “talent” that loses early maturity advantage, fails to adapt to new body, loses interest, decides to focus on another sport, or moves to another club when PT declines or Daddy decides Coach is an idiot for not recognizing just how special his D really is.

Because 2/3 of the strong teams come from ECNL doesn’t mean that one of those is in your backyard. Stars and Scorps are on the outside of that number, maybe Stars is on the fringe, but not the same reputation they used to have.

GAL parent, looking at club fee receipt: Look at Duke, maybe it’s 40/60!
Impact NPL parent, looking at club fee receipt: There’s gotta be more than one pathway, plus we beat that team one time!!
The sunk costs insure the thread never dies…
