Realistically is there even enough good players?

After 8th grade is there even enough good players in Mass (and RI) to roster strong girls teams? We have 3 national ECNL, 2 national Ga, so you already have a minimum of 100 girls that are high level enough to make one of the top national teams? Then you have how many ECRL teams per age group? 5! So that’s another 100 pretty good players. Now add in your DPL, NAL … maybe another 100? I don’t think there are 300 very good and top players per age group for girls in Mass. We have such a watered down system, so many teams per age group yet 8th grade is when we lose many good players who decide basketball, hockey, lacrosse etc is their main sport. Or they just want to play high school not club. How are these teams able to fill rosters with talent? How are they even able to make cuts after 8th grade?

They should spread them around more. Stars doesn’t have enough top players for 2 ECNL teams but they get 2.

Nothing stopping them from going to other clubs if they feel it's a better fit for them.

Distance? Two teams in Lancaster is silly, when one stinks. I get it, Those benefiting wouldn’t want to change things, You don’t have to be the best of the best, just player 23-44 of kids who have parents able to drive to Lancaster. Low bar and you get to be ECNL. Would undoubtedly raise the level if white was replaced with a geographically diverse location.

You do realize players come from all over, right? NH, Vermont, RI, North Shore, Western MA, CT. There are plenty of options along the way if they so desire. Heck, there's another club about 30 minutes away they can go to.

Sounds like someone just looking for yet another way to whine about Stars again. If the players stink, then they won't get any college activity and then players will stop going to there. Until such time...Taste my azz

Who cares if the system is watered down. At the end of the day what matters the most is to have as many kids playing soccer as possible, regardless of level of talent.

When NEFC gets into ECNL select will have no one to play and the select girls will join NEFC, white and Scorps. (Maybe a couple make blue). Then you just have 4 top teams all over n ECNL. Plenty of talent in state for that.

                    there, solved it for you

Get rid of DPL and NAL. The best of those players might land on an ECRL team. The others can play in NECSL.

ECRL bites. Huge travel for weak games. Many DPL and NAL teams crush ECRL.

I've been saying this for years.

There aren't enough girl athletes out there. Girls specialize WAY too early. They aren't pushed like the boys. The technical standard is way lower. the game is slower. etc. Until u14 boys and girls teams should be competitive.

so either we have less top end teams (the ECNL business will want to grow) or we look at how we can holistically develop the female athlete to the standard of the boys.

One look at the ECNL games will tell you all you need to know... in 5 years I have seen maybe 3 girls that literally took over the game due to their athleticism and technical competency. Instead we have tall, big and slow girls that play a very slow game and allows physical play to be the standard.

Wait a second, are you saying that boys are more intrinsically athletic than girls? Well holy ****, that is pretty profound.
