Should've beaten MPS Bulldogs, but that's ok. Great teams in Championship division. No difference between top MAPLE and NEP teams. Both played some good soccer.

So much for MAPLE being a one horse league. I don't think the Blazers played here and yet it seems there were no NEP winners, although NEP were well represented in both elite and championship with their heavyweight clubs. Yeah, this is just one tournament, and overall very comparable leagues, but, at U13 boys, even without the blazers the scale still tilts to MAPLE. The State Cup should be interesting.

Nice try. Considering that the winner (NEFC) lost to the #3 NEP team (MPS Bulldogs) , WU-Red a good NEP team was not present, it was pre-season, and that both finals were only won by a one goal margin, I'd say no difference.

ok folks, the NEP /MAPLE debate has been beaten to death on this and other threads. The two wide margin scores (CFC vs Bruno and NHPSA vs New York) were not between NEP and MAPLE teams. The games between NEP and MAPLE teams had 1 or 2 goal margins - some in NEP's favor others in MAPLE's favor. The final could have gone either way. It's a wash.

Congrats to all the teams and to the organizers for a excellent tournament.

I was at the tournament. From what I saw good soccer by all teams I saw in championship div both MAPLE and NEP. Any given day games can go either way with these teams as the scores indicate. Good facilities, great competition, and the weather even somewhat cooperated being warmer than expected. Well run.. nice job NEFC.

What a moronic post. The second or third best teams in Maple are not tops in Maple either. Take the Blazers out of the equation and the top 2 or 3 teams from NEP could be tops in Maple. A league with the top 2 or 3 teams from both leagues would be very entertaining.

NEFC parent here. Reading into this, it sounds like you're saying that the Bulldogs is the better team because they beat NEFC despite practicing once per week? MPS has no attacking presence at all!! They defended well because the ball was mainly on their third and got a lucky questionable garbage goal which should have been called offside. Again, no attacking presence at all from MPS. None of your players could dribble or pass well on the attack or show any class with the ball. On any given day we would beat you 4-0.

First half these posts are just silly. Second MPS is a excellent team and has some quality players. At the game NEFC scoring chances were something like 15-3. Hit posts, good saves by MPS keeper, Missed PK call in the box, MPS goal the player was offside. MPS Coach PB even told his team the did not deserve to win that game the way they played. Sign of a good coach. That is soccer though.....ball just doesn't bounce your way all the time. That's what makes it a fun game. Not going to take anything away from the Bulldogs. The got the win and kudos to them. Again a very good team!

NEFC however rallied to win the next three games and beat a very good NHSPA team in the Championship, which could have gone either way. A bad team would have folded after a major dissapointment loss in a game they should have won. NEFC did everythng they had to do by getting the most points and not letting up any goals to win the bracket. Only goal scored on them was the MPS goal on Friday.

Enough with these stupid posts when 9 times out of 10 people were not at the game and just going by scores. Also NEFC doesn't practice 3 days a week.

Just be glad Massachusetts represented very well in this tournament and beat some very good teams from other states. Enough with this NEP/MAPLE junk. Support your Mass teams and be glad your kid is happy and healthy and playing soccer. Take a big deep breath people season has not even started yet.......all better now?

MPS Bulldogs got very lucky with NEFC. NEFC was clearly the better team but the better teams don't always win. Like this poster says, if we played Bulldogs four times, we would win at least 3 out of 4 times with a 4 or 5 goal winning margin. MPS has no good attacking players but some good defenders.
