Two North Carolina sheriff’s deputies have been shot after entering a Watauga County home to conduct a wellness check, according to local police.

One of them was still inside in unknown condition as an armed standoff continued into the evening.

The Boone Police Department tweeted that its officers were assisting the Watauga County Sheriff’s Offices during an ongoing standoff near the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon. Blowing Rock police were also on scene, as well as state police and SWAT operators.

and? There have been at least 6+ deaths at the hands of police officers since the Floyd verdict. Policing is a dangerous job. There is nothing known about who either perp is either and often times mental illness plays out in cases like this.

IT IS A DANGEROUS JOB. PERIOD. But fewer cops die per capita then some other dangerous jobs. And like that person said you don't' who shot at them or why. Are you trying to insinuate the shooter must have been a democrat with a thing for killing cops? You provided no proof of anything, and plenty of white Trumpers shoot at cops too. In 2019 a similar number of officers died while on active duty as those on active duty in 2020. Why are there 250+ more in in total 2020? Think police organizations or families are lying about Covid?
