No OSAA HS State Championships this year. What is everyone's best idea for HS teams to do for culmination week?? Let the ideas flow....

Top 16 teams from last year play Monday, winning 8 play Wednesday, winning 4 play Friday, top 2 play Sunday.

    If too much:
Top 8 play Monday, winning 4 play Thursday, Top 2 play Sunday.

Split all the teams that opt for the extra week into similar groups of 8 or 16 and do the same thing. So for example teams 9-16 play Mon., winning 4 play Thursday, winning 2 play Sunday.

Have to go by last year even though not fair, best way given the circumstances.

Nah, just award University of Jesuit girls the title by acclamation. Games are just a formality on the girls side.

      Boys are more interesting.

How about a jamboree/tournament style. Two 30 minute games per day. Group play for four 30 min games and then single game elimination tournament at 60 mins. Start Friday and end Monday.

Get whoever runs the mt hood challenge to run it. Could get the local clubs involved to help run it.

An aspiring DOC could even create this tournament without OSAA sanctioning to keep them out of it. Someone could make a lot of money on it.

OSSA makes a fortune on state playoffs with the per person, per day entry fees.

I like the top idea but anything is better than the total cop out by OSAA to have nothing that last week. These student athletes deserve much more after the last 12 months. Even if it’s hard, they should come up with something. To not care at all and do absolutely nothing is horribly weak.

Have you dealt with OSAA before?

                You just nailed it.

                On a scale of 1 to 10 they rock a full 1.

That is an incredibly generous evaluation of OSAA. That might be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about them.

Who makes up OSAA? Isn’t it representatives from different schools? We need to collectively put pressure on those representatives. Absolutely uncalled for to do nothing!

Its a bunch of people who drew the shortest straw and have to go have a catered lunch every so often to fulfill a work requirement. I don't think there is anyone who knows about sports. I could be wrong. Not an impressive group in my opinion.

Last years results are less meaningless than this years fiasco. Plus, if you use last year’s results, its already available and they could start planning the games/fields/refs for the teams that opt in. Only chance of something happening is if it’s easy and can be planned now.

A little late. A well crafted meaningful, regional & competitive culmination week plan for all levels Boys & Girls Soccer was presented to the Executive Board last week by OSAA staff member Kris Welch the plan was constructed by the OSAA Soccer contingency committee formed last Spring 2020 at the start of the pandemic. They (OSAA exec board) did not approve n it-- oddly kicking the culmination week activities back to the 'schools' for the time being, whatever the heck that means. They (exec board) are so far out of touch with reality, they don't have the capacity to realize that Soccer has been played without any real issues since July in Oregon (wearing a mask, no spectators, refs masked up, no post game hand shakes, bench social distancing--all in compliance) it's truly an embarrassment these elected rural OSAA board members are this clueless. But they did muscle the Governor with pleas of crying parents to allow the prohibited sport of Contact Football to be played at the 12th hour. Go figure. A team of genius's for sure. Hee-Haw.
