Wasn’t this one of the complaints against the NEP, that clubs have a say as to who gets in to the league? Things that make you go hmmmm…

Well that’s false because NECSL can’t reject clubs lol

Why wouldn't you just want to beat them on the field?

This isn’t the pros where you can settle things “on the field” there’s no one team matchup that will “show” anything. People are hoping they get left out because they’re **** people and clubs. Juventus 3rd team vs select 4th team with part time coaches doesn’t mean ****

“Why wouldn’t you just want to beat them on the field?” What a dumbass response

Once upon a time there was just one league for the top clubs and it was pretty simple to see which were the better teams and coaches. Then GPS showed up and invented new leagues where you played a handful of terrible teams and won "glamorous" national championships while being able to duck the states top teams and never playing them. Now the GPS method is the norm and anyone can have a league and we can hand out 72 national champs per age group every year and argue who is the best while barely any of the regions top teams ever play each other.

They totally broke the system for money and you will never again get to actually see the regions top teams all compete against each other other than the few top ones in each separate league during play, or maybe a random tournament...but even those are scheduled to the host club can duck those teams until maybe the finals.

They dont want to play each other regularly because the fear it will make their product look worse than they are trying to sell to the public.

I meant the 5 or 6 club GPS league with lots of travel (including a Canadian team) prior to the NEP that was very weak and sold as far better

Let's put things into perspective... does it really matter? All this league "fighting" or who is the top team in each league, division and age group, or which is the best club, etc... does it really matter? The vast majority of players aren't going to make the pros (99.999%) or even get offered a decent college scholarship. There are so many positive aspects to being a soccer player in their youth which are far more important and long-lasting than which club or league they play in. If your kid is not under a coach that helps them not only learn the game, but develop their character... then you are missing the point and not doing what's best for your child.

You are, without doubt, 100% correct. Thisbis a Great Post! :)

Thank you for a very real, very rational post.

All I want is for my son to enjoy these wonderful childhood years with many great memories of the Coaches, players and friends he made during his years playing soccer as well as all the great experiences he has had and will continue to have....

Peace and Love.... Peace and Love... :)

Town all-star teams of the past were the only way to go.
There is reason high school sports are so popular…you always know who the bad guys are and you have to play them.

We should have 1 all-star team per state who plays other states all-stars and from that, pick a national squad. (ODP in theory)
